They do this because they are broke and just looking to save money.

Lakers deal doesn't really hurt us.

Yao is still a better player than Bynum

Gasol is still as soft as paper tissue, and defenders like Hayes or Mutombo can easily rattle him.

I doubt they have Odom out there for big stretch of the game against, because our strenghth is paint defense. They still need outside shooters to really and gunners on the wing to kind to have big advantage of us.

I'm syill fuking pissed at chris wallace, the grizz GM. what a fuking idiot.

he def could have gotten better deals either in the past or in the future. He could argue whatever he wants about how this deal is the best he could get at present given team structure, but he is an idiot for getting so little from the lakers.

man at least get jordan farmer in place of crittenton
he said in the interview how crittenton and marc gasol = 2 first round pick. what an idiot.

how can these idiots who don't know jack aboutvalues and has zero negotiation skills nor business sense be leading a franchise is beyond me.

    Suns:

Phoenix on offense: Yao on Shaq, Scola/Landry/Hayes on Amare. Marion not there slashing and hitting those T-Rex armed 3s. Shaq manning the middle but I like Yao on Shaq, much more than Yao on Amare. Amare will have a better matchup against Scola/Landry, but Hayes should be able to keep Stoudamire shooting contested Js.

Phoenix on defense: Nobody to make T-Mac work hard. Scola/Landry keep Amare from fronting Yao. Without Marion teals/swipes/team defense goes down. Less fast break. Before, 5 guys could run so it didnt matter who made the outlet pass. Now, if Shaq doesnt start the break, they lose a runner/gunner.

Lakers: Tough matchup, but Gasol has never been acused of being a defender. If they keep Bynum(when he returns on Yao) and only use guards to go at Yao, they will have lots of wide open 3's. Bynum will not be able to contain Yao one on one. I dont mind Scola/Landry/Hayes on Gasol and Yao on Bynum. Also can use Deke to back up Yao on Bynum if needed.

i was watching a phoenix game about a week ago, maybe even a couple days before the superbowl, and i remember one of the commentators stating that the suns are taking a new aproach and are slowing down their play since the fast pace game that they are known for has not really payed off as of yet. with all the talent on the team they should have won a championship by now, so they said they are starting to slow down their play and play more defense.

More Important Than Anything: How is Andrew Bynum Doing?
If you have been watching ESPN TV, then you might have heard Ric Bucher say that he has heard Andrew Bynum could possibly miss the rest of the season. This is a key piece of information about which, obviously, I would like to know more. Healthy Andrew Bynum is an essential ingredient if we're going to be talking about titles in Los Angeles (Lakers/Celtics redux?). I'm sure over the next few weeks we'll learn a lot more about Bynum, and not being a doctor and not having seen his knee I'm in no position to speculate.

However, if we end up looking back on today as the day we learned that Gasol is in and Bynum is out, then this is not a great day for Laker fans after all.

Doesnt Bynum have trouble with Yao though? Everytime we play the Lakers, Phil always started and gave Kwame the majority of the minutes because he was a better match up against Yao.

Kwame was sort of their Yao stopper....he didn't shut Yao down. But he makes him work for his shots and he doesn't get caught in foul trouble, like others do.

Bynum will struggle against Yao, that's a big plus right there. Gasol was and has been contained by the Rockets.

Our big problem against the Lakers will be Kobe as usual, I'm not really worried about the front line doing alot of damage, because we have good rebounders and defenders on that end of floor. I am worried about Battier/T-Mac letting Kobe go crazy. We haven't been able to stop him in the past.

I still think our achilles heel is Utah and GSW. Gasol/Bynum doesn't present the same kind of match up problems like Boozer/Okur does.

Gasol only ever gets his against the Rockets when he makes 18 footers and the refs fall for his offensive flopping.

If the Rockets get J-Kidd, the west will be hectic.

It means the Roxs will most likely be eliminated in the first round assuming they do make it to the playoffs. Unless of course our rookies turn into stars during the season or if the Rox trade for another star player.

Lakers got a great trade.... Gasol is a good player on the post and a passer. The Lakers are defenitely contenders in the west this year.

I think Shaq on the Suns is specifically for Yao.....Shaq has dominated Yao except for one performance last year....I think Phoenix will have the type of game the Rockets so desperately seek....A big man in the middle that can dominate when healthy and a superb passing/running attack....

Shaq doesn't have to play. The absence of Marion alone makes the Suns that much easier to beat up on.
