Holy cow!!! I am sitting here watching a HUGE tornado rip through Memphis, TN on the news. I live an hour from Memphis and my city is in the middle of a large group of storms tearing through Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Mississippi. If you go to weather.com and look up my city, you can see the HUGE group of storms in each direction of my city. I hope member candycane (she lives in Memphis) was no where near this devastation. This is pretty wicked up here.
Haven't you heard? There is no global warming, Chuck Norris just got cold and turned up the sun. But in all seriousness... this is a sad tragedy, and I'm being insensitive. I pray the families get the help they need quickly, and that they are comforted by God during this time of loss, and beyond... The storms started here in the Dallas area this AM with pea-sized to golf ball-sized hail, and a temperature drop of about 30 degrees in an hour... This spring may get scary for a lot of the country.
Just saw some video of one of the tornadoes -- absolutely huge -- looked like an F4 or F5 - at least a half mile wide if not larger.
It was 83 degrees in Austin yesterday. Cold today, but crazy temps for this time of year. I've seen several tornadoes and waterspouts (unlucky or lucky. depends on your perspective). Very scary. Had one come right over my house in South Austin about 17 years ago. Blew down my neighbor's 75 foot pecan tree into my backyard, within a foot from my house. Had my pregnant wife in a hallway with a mattress over us (just did it without thinking) after waking up at 3 in the morning. Sounded just like a damn freight train. Twisters are bad news.
Wow! The storms last night were crazy! I don't think I've ever watched the news for that long in my entire life. Some of the footage that the Memphis stations were showing was really intense. Especially the live footage of te tornado that tore through the warehouses in Southaven, MS. If I can find the video I'll post it!
