She would never say where she came from Yesterday don't matter if it's gone While the sun is bright or In the darkest night No one knows She comes and goes Goodbye Ruby Tuesday, who could hang a name on you? When you change with ev'ry new day Still I'm gonna miss you Don't question why she needs to be so free She'll tell you it's the only way to be She just can't be chained to a Life where nothing's gained and nothing's lost at such a cost Goodbye Ruby Tuesday, who could hang a name on you? When you change... "There's no time to lose" I heard her say Catch your dreams before they slip away Dying all the time Lose your dreams and you will lose your mind Ain't life unkind? Goodbye Ruby Tuesday, who could hang a name on you? When you change...
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers were formed about the time you were born, in late '75/early '76. Your parents must not have been fans or felt that you shouldn't be exposed to rock and roll at a young age (we bombarded our kids with rock while still in the womb!). I've seen them several times, but my favorite concert was probably seeing them on tour with Bob Dylan, backing him up. That was incredible.
No joke. My parents tried to keep me away from rock and roll (namely KISS) when I was younger. I didn't really begin to listen to any of it until I was 9 and got a radio. Then when I was 12, I signed up to one of those buy 12 records for a penny dealies, and it was all started from there. Don't mind being neglected from KISS during my youth. They weren't nearly as good as their hype.
Because he didn't do any "stepping" (blech) and lip syncing. These people would rather see Janet Jackson again. It was a decent performance. I mean it was no Prince but it was good.
OK kids, hop in the wayback machine and listen to 'Damn The Torpedoes'. It's a top 25'er of all time rock records (ya can't count 'Best Of's') (well my list...In 2003, the album was ranked number 313 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time) I wish I could go back and listen to it with fresh ears, not having heard 1000 times. Same thing for The Eagles 'Desperado'. Petty probably has 25 songs that he can play live that would rock a stadium.
I think he was saying it was a shame that they couldn't play the songs because of the drug references.
