It's comical but David Wesley used to give Lebron fits.

what games have you guys been watching. Battier almost always stays on the best perimeter player. I cant recall Tmac switching over to guard Lebron, Dwade, Kobe or any of the other wings at the end of a game, especially in the regular season. Hell Tmac had trouble keeping up with Jaric last night on the defensive end.

Also, Battier has actually did really well on Lebron last year. Im sure the doubles will still come, but I doubt Tmac will be guarding Lebron unless Battier is not on the floor.

I'm worried about this. No one player can stop Lebron. With JVG we used disciplined team defense to try to contain superstar perimeter players like Lebron, with the plan being to try force him into contested outside jumpers. Let's see the Adelman approach.

If it's anything like Detroit's at the end of ECF game 5, or like Portland's at the end of last Wednesdays game.......

Everybody will probably take a turn on him, with Battier doing the majority of the d on LBJ.

Is this worth a thread, not in the game thread?

Shane Battier. Not even a question, and he always guarded Lebron well.

Well first of all, LeBron can't be held, only slowed... So the majority of this will be done with Shane on him. Tmac might have to play him a little down the stretch I'd imagine.

Only Lebron can guard Lebron :D . But Tmac need to match shot for shot, dunk for dunk, and elbow for elbow for us to win.

RE Tmac not being overpowered by Lebron:

Shane is heavier than Tmac and appears to be just as strong if not stronger. He also appears to have a much more solid base (legs) which is huge when defending the post.

Battier, has to guard James because of his strength. FYI, James will be at Grooves on Wed evening along with UofH D Jones. Let's get James wasted.

I say let James score from the perimeter with Jumpers and stay on the know shooters. Landry and Scola should have field day with their bench.

Battier with help. If the game gets close start doubling him when walks the ball down the floor. Anything to get the ball out of his hands. I'm perfectly fine with daring Illgauskas, Hughes or Gooden to beat us down the stretch.

I just hope the refs are fair and balanced with their officiating. Everybody knows what to expect from LeBron's end. He drives himself uncontrollably into the lane, forces up some highly contested shot then looks for a whistle. He's going to get those kind of calls so I expect Yao to be respected on the other end as well.

Battier will probably guard him 75% of the time, with T-Mac the other 25%

Yes, T-Mac is a good defender when he tries...and he tries against LeBron cause he CAN show him up, I don't care if yall don't believe it.

Exactly, the way to beat the Cavs is by doubling Lebron and taking him out of the game. If you watched the Portland game then you would know this. They let lebron beat them in the last 4mins of the game, and he literally took over. Tmac and battier should double him as much as possible, that should guarantee us a win. Hopefully Tmac is up for the defensive challenge.

Yep double LeBron and he feels he needs to pass and not be greedy (and start being called Kobe v2.0). Just don't allow Gibson to be the one left open. He can hit shots.

I'm also intrigued by the Ilgal Yao matchup. Also Gooden could give Scola and landry fits because he's very strong and good at defense.
