Yeah, I'm not liking Rick Adelman keeping him in there for the entire first quarter and then a couple minutes into the second quarter. I think Adelman should follow JVG's substitution pattern and bench him with about 2 minutes left in the first quarter and bring him back at the 8 minute mark in the 2nd quarter. I know Yao has better stamina this year than in the past but you can tell he isn't as quick as he was earlier in the year. I saw a play where he could have easily gone for a loose ball in the first quarter but was real slow at reacting to it and bending down to pick it up and got stripped. He also got no lift on his shot when he was block by Jefferson in the 2nd quarter. He needs to rest some.
Yao needs break. Fatigue can be the only reason that his free throw shooting % is down, and MUST be the only reason that he's outplayed by centers such as Andrew Bogut. Bogut is a great player, but he should never out play Yao.
He indeed needs some rest and fully recover because he's definetly tired, drained or whatever. A big reason why we only just won the last few games because Yao's underperforming. If he's fully healthy again we're definetly going to beat some teams big.
Yao is a professional basketball player folks......He gets paid millions to do what he does on the court just like every basketball player....Monitor his minutes???? He gets paid to play this many minutes!!! He doesnt get Rafer Alston money or Luther Head type money....he gets paid to grind it out.... I do agree with one previous poster and that is he is deferring to T-Mac......T-MAC would give him the ball if he was playing better....T-MAC always defer to Yao when he is playing well....Lately that hasnt been the case....Yao will snap out of it and they have created a good balance...if the left shoe isnt hurtin ya da right one will....We are all hoping that they both are stepping at the sametime....eventually it will happen and I think this Thursday vs. Cleveland it will!
So if the annual "Yao needs to rest instead of playing in the all-star game" thread shows up less than two weeks before all star break instead of more than two weeks before, does that mean there are six more weeks of winter or is spring around the corner?
Now that I think about it I bet he is still recovering from the flu. It takes awhile for some people to get their strength and conditioning back after fighting off the flu. Hopefully he will get a good rest during the all star break but it would be nice if Adelman can rest Yao a little more. I would have like to see some Scola and Landry playing on the floor together last night. I wish we could have Yao play about 34 minutes a game but there are so many games where we can't even afford to put him on the bench.
When you play 3 games in a row away, you might be tired, espacially if you are a big man like him. Definently fatigue, he has 3 days to rest until next home game and All-Star break. He's a proffesional, don't worry.
Our familiar YAO will come back at next homegame. He was just homesick because this long-road journey.
If the increased minutes are the problem for his recent play, don't expect Yao to come up BIG in the playoffs if he continues to get those minutes. Hopefully, he doesn't burn out. So far, it doesn't look good. That is, if his recent play is contributed to fatigue caused by more minutes.
I think he may be a little tired, but not too much. I expect him to come back strong soon. He always seems to. He's too good.
Scola could probably use a little break too, what with playing through the summer and then adjusting to the NBA grind.
I understand that, but would you make the same excuses for TMac or any other Rockets if they had bad games?? TMac does play a lot of minutes every night as well. Anyways... no one is blaming Yao the way a lot of you blames TMac for every bad game he has. Bad games happens! Now if you remember this also when TMac doesnt have a good game, then this board would be so peaceful lol
It's precisely because of the long term that I posted what I did. With either TMac or Yao playing well, we can still win on any given night as we've shown the last few games. But that won't get us anywhere in the post-season. Both guys gotta play great, I don't think anyone will disagree with that. I can't agree that Yao played fine. He looks slow, he hasn't been fighting as hard for position, etc. Hopefully it's just a funk. Fortunately, McGrady has been ballin' the last few games. We'll see how Yao plays vs. the Cavs. Maybe I'm just making a mountain out of a molehill. Hopefully, that's the case.
Don't be so hateful It is not fair to compare Yao and other players. He weighted more than 300 lbs and 7"6, and no one else does
no1 has any reason to be missing FTs...i dont see how any1 in the nba could be a 70% or lower Ft shooter
If what I said is hateful, you obviously have not read all the numerous posts and threads about TMac lol. First Yao does average close to as many minutes as TMac. So no I am not making a direct comparison. I just said TMac plays a lot of minutes as well and he is a human who can get tired too. but will any Yao fans think about it when they attack TMac when he plays bad? Nope. Nothing hateful about I wrote.
