I have heard Kubiak say time and time again that we will be drafting the best player available. I wonder if he is preparing us for another DE pick. Another pass rusher opposite Mario may be just what the doctor ordered. The giants secondary has been decimated this year. A huge pass rush cures many ills.

Every time they showed Strahan wreaking havoc, I couldn't help but think of Mario. Good things are going to happen with this guy. I can't wait.

As for the draft, I've heard numerous interviews stating that the Texans want:

    1. Running Back
    2. Left Tackle
    3. Defensive Back

    In that order.

I'd definitely like to see the Texans acquire another pass rushing DE, whether they decide to sign one via free agency or draft one. This is a deep draft for DE and the Texans should be able to find one in the later rounds.

Since Kubiak runs the Bronco offensive system, I doubt they'll ever draft a RB on the first day. However they may sign a FA RB before the draft.

Patriots have shown the way: Texans should draft a OL.

Works both ways. I suspect the Pat will be looking to replace the entire right side of their OL. Brady looked like a Texan QB out there!!!

From what I've read this is a terrible draft for secondary, a mediocre draft for OL's and a very deep draft for running backs. It is unlikely you will get an impact pass rusher later than the first round. I think the Texans will not reach in the first, so if they don't trade down and the best available is a pass-rusher be it DE or Linebacker they will go for it. I can't imagine them going for a rb in the first round and even though secondary is their most glaring need it is a weak draft in that area, so my guess is they will try and fill that need via free agency. As to my point earlier, signing a bookend to Mario improves your secondary by default.

This works both ways, though. If you can trust your secondary, you can send more blitzes, and get more pressure that way, too.

No matter, we've got to draft a franchise left-tackle in this draft. Regardless of commercials, Salaam is not going to get the Texans to the Super Bowl.

I don't think a frachise left-tackle will be available at the 18th pick, but I agree it needs to be addressed.

    G-men D line was MONSTER!!!

but for the texans, its OT or bust. Schaub needs help or he'll be the next david carr.

if there is no OT worthy of #18, then trade down and get depth at other positions.

Another Defensive 1st round pick for the Texans? No thanks. I rather see a pick that upgrades the OL.

Hope Ryan Clady falls, or you go with Kenny Phillips. Kenny Phillips is a superb football name. Someone named Kenny Phillips probably has a strong work ethic.

I'd be shocked if they spend another 1st round pick on the D-line. With what they have invested already, they need to shore up other positions first (CB, OL, safety, RB).

I think we go with a DB in the first. Who knows how good Dunta will be when he comes back and we have no quality depth in the secondary anyways.

If Dunta Robinson didn't go down, OL would be the obvious primary need. Now I'd say take the best of either OL or DB. With the way Mario Williams exploded last year, there is no way in the world the Texans draft a DE on the first day.

It would be nice to address Left Tackle for once.

If not, Id settle for the best DB we can grab this low.

Wait until the 4th round for a RB...... This draft is way deep in RB's.

    My prediction is

    1: DB
    3: RB
    4: LT

I can't think how to do the research to prove this point, but I think many of the dynasties were built by drafting best player available instead of drafting based on need. I know the Tex Schram cowboys practiced that philosophy and was one of the main reasons they were dominant for years. I think Kubiak is of the same mind, although if it is a close call on best player available he will go with need. This, supposedly, is a lousy draft for db's, so I think it will be a passrusher (either DL or LInebacker) or OL. RB is the deepest position in years, so that is highly unlikely. I also think we would trade down for 2 - 2nd round picks if we could get it, maybe a 2nd and 3rd.

If you have a guy creating havoc on the inside and preventing the QB from stepping up from the outside DE rush, it would be a lot better

But you wouldn't have to send blitzes if you were getting constant pressure from your DL.

The Giants were able to get pressure from Osi "human urine", Strahan, and Tuck on Brady all game long with out sending too many blitzes and leaving ther DBs on an island.
