Please let's not pretend that you actually criticize Mac. 90% of your posts recently have to do with Yao, usually pretty critical. Nothing wrong with that, except I seen you time and time again make excuses for Tmac. If you don't look at just points, you can't just look at assists either. There is a huge difference between passing for the assist after pounding the ball until the shot clock is low and passing to set-up the offense. Not every good pass has to lead to a basket, but get the ball to a player in a area where he is comfortable to either score or create something on his own. Please don't insult my intelligence.
Also, how stupid does the OP got to be to make a thread like this after Yao had an equally atrocious game??
Without Tmac, we do not win this game! Tmac still got GAME! maybe not as explosive as he once was but he's still one of the best basketball players in the world no doubt..
I hear there's a technique where you can drain the blood of rookies to revitalize the joints. Maybe T-Mac should have Brooks and Landry over to his place for drinks.
ok, now you're being creepy......... I have a hard time following your e-humor. Btw, Tmac scored a 100 points tonight........... observe the use of smilies to denote humor/grainage of saltage. btw, any player can benefit from adding to his game yr to yr, season to season.......it makes good sense. but, you're acting like tmac is 35........
This is starting to get ridiculous. Fans complained about T-Mac not stepping up in the 4th during Clutch time, and this game he basically wins it for us. Shot lights out in the final moments and all you guys can do is still complain? You wanted him to step it up, well, here it is. So what if he isoed during the FINAL MINUTES and basically sealed the win. That is what superstars do. They put the team on their back and take over. Jordan,Kobe,Dream,Wade,Lebron and all the best superstars do the same thing in crunch time. They take over the game like a superstar is suppose to do. If that was Kobe last night instead of T-Mac, everyone would be on his nuts talking about he's the greatest and why T-Mac can't do the same. It's the truth.
We don't know which T-Mac will show up to which games. Is he going to be the T-Mac that had the 47 point outburst against Utah at the start of the season, or the T-Mac that had a horrendous 6 for 19 shooting against Indiana? The fact that we have to play a guessing game as to which T-Mac will show up is very detrimental to team chemistry.
Tmac is still finding his way under the new regime...one where he doesn't have the ball the whole time. He is getting it. DD
Well try to consider he is coming off an injury. The T-Mac that dropped 47 points on Utah was healthy. Also, even though he shot 6 for 19 in that game, his presence was felt. He had 9 assist and made some very key assist down the stretch for us. Shooting isn't the only thing that T-Mac brings. He's our best play maker and is still good enough that teams double and set up their defenses against him.
Badgerfan is 100% correct. But this isn't rocket science people. It's obvious that T-mac is not the athlete he was 3 or 4 years ago. And it's obvious that he is going to have to work on his shooting in order to be effective in the league, not to mention his free throws as well. I don't know whether we'll ever see much improvement from T-mac's jumper. He is never going to be a pure shooter.
i think the opposite. the fact that we CAN win when tmac struggles is a great sign. last yr in the playoffs, we win when he plays well (except for game 7). this yr, we have proven we can beat some great teams even when he struggles (spurs, suns). but if tmac continues to play within the offense, he'll have LESS bad shooting nights. remember, before the injuries, he shot 45-46%. he'll have more opportunities to iso in the post & triple threat so more mid-range jumpers and he's great at that (rather than 3s). more cuts and screens -> more in the paint. again, give him time. he looked good yesterday. he still lacked some explosiveness but that requires rest. his stamina was terrific so him coming into shape was HUGE. this is more of a team than ever. when you have tmac AND yao struggling major like v. indy and STILL shot and passed well, AND win, it's a good sign.
Uhh that's not changing his game. That's call working on his shooting and as someone pointed out his shooting percentage is around his career average this year. Working on free throws isnt changing your game either.
No one is saying he hasn't lost a step either but he still can do all the things he used to. Command double teams, beat his opponent off the dribble, finish strong, etc. McGrady isn't one dimensional and he has plenty of moves so I dont know exactly what he needs to change his game to. You can say his style doesn't fit the system and needs to change because of that but to say he needs to change his game because he's not effective is b.s.
i do have to agree he has to work on his fts better. that's huge. there's no reason he can't shoot 80% from the line. and improve his 3pt shot. it used to be around 35-38%, now it's 31-32%.
