This is my Pug named Ethel. She was laying on the bed one day and I put the camera on the floor, snapped a few shots and this was the best one. What do you think?
I feel a hesitancy, as I can not speak with the degree of accuracy, which usually characterizes my remarks.
7.1 for the entire photo Composition is good, brightness/contrast is so-so, and focusing is bad. Plus, it didn't look like you used the camera's red eye reduction. FOCUS the subject you want while the subject is not in the center, then keep the finger lightly pressed on the subject, then move to center the subject, and you will have the subject focused and a sharp image to remember. If you switch to red eye reduction flash, you can minimize the reflection of the components of the eye. A steady hand will help, too. Take a look at the focusing, composition, color, and contrast on this one (click for large version): it is Camille, our 2-year-old black cat. Yes, I have other photos I tried before this one, and I have even better ones of this "photo shoot."
