Gasol is a great fit for the Lakers, perfect actually, he's not the kind of guy who can carry a team, but he’ll make an excellent complementary player to Kobe. I really like this deal for them, Kobe may be a jacka$$ off the court, but man he’s everything T-Mac isn’t on the court, it’s Boston Vs. Lakers in the finals….BOOK IT!

…and for those who say we weren’t going to pick GAY anyway, who gives a flyin crap, we should still ridicule the Battier trade, how come our scouts were so incompetent not to see what Memphis saw? At this point I would trade T-Mac for the guy. That in itself is enough to get pissed off.

Also, watch Kobe get the Lakers back to being a contender now that he's got an All-star calibre player on the inside.

Unlike McGrady, he's getting out of the first round.

Pau Gasol is a good player but he hasn't been a great player since the first time he got hurt. I don't know if he can go back to the player he was when he made the all-star team if he does the Lakers should be very happy. Well they should be happy anyway just becasue of the fact they got rid of number 54.

:( :(  The west continues to stack up. We really don't have much of a chance to win the title any time soon. I mean, we are in a race just to even squeeze into the playoffs... :(

this SUCKS, I think the Lakers are the best team in the west now.

What if Dallas lands Kidd without giving up Howard or Dirk?

Talent wins championships and comparing the Lakers after this trade to those teams is crazy. The Knicks and Bulls are completely dysfunctional. Their crash and burns are almost historic. What do they have to do with this Lakers squad? And after this trade, the Lakers easily beat the Nuggets in terms of talent.

This trade is like us trading Chuck Hayes and some more guys we don't even use, two first round picks which we might not even need to get Jemaine O'neal. How good would we be if we could pull something like that off?

My god, LA got a big steal. Only real piece the Lakers traded is Javaris Crittenton.

....to the Rockets for Kirk Snyder and 17mil in under-the-table cold hard cash(5mil each from T-Mac and Yao, 1mil from Shane and Rafer, and $250-500 grand each from the rest to make the difference)

the grizzlies were smart not to take on odom in this deal, since his sizable contract is valid until the 2008-2009 season, and would limit their ability to target the excellent class of restricted free agents this summer. what i don't understand is why they couldn't unload brian cardinal's albatross contract on the lakers - i'm sure they would have taken it if the grizzlies had pushed it as a necessary condition for the trade, since the trade already heavily favored them anyways.

actually, he now has 3 all-star caliber players (4 including himself) and derek fisher. they may be putting out the best starting 5 in the league.

when kobe gets a team out of the first round that consists of rafer and chuck hayes in the starting lineup, then you can talk trash about t-mac, until then, STFU

It also a good time to mention that over the last few years some of the most talented teams in the league did not walk away with crown.

The funny thing is that the Lakers also got Grizzlies 2nd round pick in 2008.

The difference between Lakers 2008 first round pick and Grizzlies second round pick is only like 10 players. :D

Well, Milicic has started in 35 out of 46 of the Grizz's games this year. I'm gonna assume that means Gasol has started at the 4 spot in those games.

So essentially...It was just JCrit and 2 1st rounders for Pau, since Memphis waived Brown and Brown goes back to the Lakers. Thats some bull**** right there

So does this mean we can get Mike Miller for Chuck Hayes now?
