I vote for Lamar Odom. In his first game he had 25 points against Vince Carter, last year's ROTY. Who do you think should be ROTY so far? Base this on performance, in other words don't pick Francis just because you're a Rockets fan.

Odom had 17 points in his first game on 6-20 shooting...

But I do think he will win ROY. He is already better than a lot of NBA vets.

I don't think he'll win but Andre Miller looks the read deal at pg, his d is awesome. I'M Hearing he shut down Marbury and made one of the best pg's around look ordinary. he's already spent the summer shutting down fellow Rookies Baron Davis and
    Jason Terry.

Still someone like Odom or Brand will win.

Why hasnt anyone said anything about Francis Being ROY? I mean, come on, the guy had 15 and 18 points in 2 games so far with some dazzling cross-overs, one major throw-down and a handful of rebounds and assists....I know he has had more turnovers than most but voetrs usually dont look at that....and he plays on a contending team...so tell me one reason why he couldnt be ROY??

Francis is playing on a team full of veterans. He won't get the kind of minutes or opportunities his first season guys like Odom and Brand will because of the lack of talent on their respective teams.

If he does get it, the Rockets will either be very bad or VERY good.

I don't see why he wouldnt win it. Tim Duncan won it with guys like Sean Elliot and David Robinson around. It doesn't matter who you have on your team...if you have talent, you will find a way to showcase it. I know that its just preseason, but so far Steve has been our most consistent option. I don't see how he could slip down to any farther than the second option (ie: Hakeem #1 option) once the regular season starts. The voters will look at who had the biggest impact, not who had the best stats. If the Rockets finish the regular season with a bang and seed in the Top-3, the voters will see him guiding a team that was 5th last year to the top of the league. Also, what other high-profile rookie will play in as many nationally televised games this season? This will give Francis more chances to show his stuff. He will probably be the only high-pick to play in the playoffs as well.

I think Francis would have to be around a 17 PPG, 5 APG guy to be in the running. Usually, fair or not, scoring is emphasized foremost in awards. I doubt Brand will score than much, I know Miller and Davis won't. In fact scoring wasn't any of those three players fortays in college. Odom could score more than Francis though. I think it will come down to Odom versus Francis, though admittedly neither one has played a single NBA game yet.

Jeff Foster. I just think it would be cool for an SWT Alum to win it. It would be the biggest sports news in San Marcos since Charles Austin won the gold in the high jump in Atlanta!

    ...or Odom, Brand, or Francis.

How about Rip? That's who I'm rooting for outside of Franchise and Foster.

Is it any coincidence that we are the only team mentioned in the national anthem?

    I didn't think so!

Thats from '99. This review of Stevie Franchise in his 1st game was pretty much the book on the rest of his career.

Thanks for the old age reminder

Wow. Jason Terry and Baron Davis were fellow rookies along with Andre Miller. Now they're grizzled vets
