Actually LBJ's left foot hit the ground after the dribble was picked up. But you're right...it wasnt called. LBJ wins again.
In fact I play about 3-5 times a week, and I played today. In fact, I tried all the different variations of picking up one's dribble I mentioned in my post, and when I pulled a LBJ, I know I travelled. I don't get your comment about common sense, but presumptuousness is not appreciated. As for the parts you bolded, I'm talking about picking up his dribble in stride. Normally, if you're pivoting on your left, for example, and you jump off your right (picking up your left), it's a travel. If you're just standing around in the post and pivoting, trying to get a shot, you have to jump off both feet. Little known and often violated fact.
Your 1st post says "can only jump off his right foot" and your 2nd post says "jump off your right, it's a travel". Which one is true? The funny thing is the Blazers bench & Nate McMillan had no reactions and no complains after LBJ's layup. But, there're always some fantasy fans think they know more than the coaches and players.
The first applies to a play in which catching the ball or picking up the dribble occurs "while he is progressing", in which a "two-count rhythm" is allowed. The second applies once that progress stops, when a different set of rules apply. I'm quoting NBA rules here. I am fully aware there was no protest, because I watched the replay several times to look for exactly that. That doesn't mean it didn't occur, it just means they didn't have the benefit of slow-motion replays. In fact, many travels occur by many players in every game, but there is such a thing as only travelling a little, and it is hard to notice when players move as quickly as they do. In any case, posters here who agree with me are probably just arguing a technicality, fully aware that whether it be a fast-break dunk or a game-winning drive, refs will never call that travel. After looking more carefully at other highlights, I'm even doubting that they should, not only because it happens often, but because it's difficult not to travel a little once in a while when you're flying down the court at full gallop. I don't understand why you have to resort to insulting those who disagree with you to make your point, or making straw-man arguments, instead of making a rational, fact-based argument. Anyway, don't bother.
