Interesting mention by Greg Anthony. He mentioned that Kidd would make the Rockets more efficient and utilize Yao better in the half court. He said it's not likely that the Rockets could get him, but I'm happy at the fact that someone on the east coast is at least thinking about the Rockets. Who knows, maybe this will gain some steam in the front office.

What's up with NBA people giving props to Kidd in Houston?

Some kind of conspiracy is afoot.

Upgrading the point guard makes sense to everyone but Houston.

Well, of course the Rockets(as any other team), would benefit from having Kidd.

There's ZERO chance of it happening though.

To get within 15% of Kidd's salary, the Rockets have to send back $16.7 mil, along with some talent. So we're talking about some weird 5 for 1 or 6 for 1 deal which likely includes Battier, Brooks, and Bonzi(expiring contract) in terms of rotation players being in the mix.

Or you could just trade TMac straight up. NOtice Anthony didn't mention TMac's name, only Yao's.

Now if we somehow in a mythical world we could somehow get Kidd, T-Mac and Yao on the same team....now that would be something.

Wouldn't Tmac jump at the chance to finish his career the way he started: playing with his cousin Vince?

what's the obsession with kidd? he has 2 all-star caliber players on his team and as the team's leader, his team is on a 9 game losing streak.

Wow have you even seen other NBA players other than Houston? There is a reason why Kidd almost leads the league in triple double.. And it's not because he can shoot lights out.

Well, considering T-Mac is a much better player than Kidd at this stage of their respective careers, I simply assumed he wouldn't be in the discussion.

Now, T-Mac + role players for Jefferson + Kidd.... that's at least semi-plausible.

What are you talking about ?

They went out and got James & Francis and drafted a PG in the first round.

It is fairly clear that the Rockets know it too.

well kidd is not my favorite player at all,
i think he's overrated plus he can't shoot..

however, he can run an offense way better than anyone on this team

    It's 25%. So roughly under $15 mil.

Alston+James+($5 mil expiring contracts, eg Francis+Snyder+Novak) for Kidd

A deal along these lines cuts $10 mil from the Nets books next season. They'd even have the option to offer Ben Gordon the max (which Bulls won't match) to be their PG. There are some interesting names in free agency for clubs under the cap this free agency.

Its not as far-fetched as you might think. Salaries WOULD work, and be mutually advantageous.

Kidd's trade value would primarily be to teams who thought he could put them over the top to win a championship ... and we are such a team.

I think our rookies DO have considerable trade value, especially Scola, and he could be a solid piece for them, just as he could be for us.

Alston also has considerable marketing value in that area, as a street legend, who could sell tickets, and be a veteran to give time for Marcus Williams to develop.

If they trade Carter for younger talent, even Mike James veteran experience could be valuable to them for a couple years at SG.

And, we could give them Snyder and Wells as expiring contracts. I don't think Francis would work.

You can always add up to 3 million to a trade too, if Les wan't to open his cash vault.

Perhaps they'd consider a combination of salary relief and new pieces, like the following trade:

Scola/Snyder/Wells/James/Alston/pick/cash for Kidd/Allen/Armstrong. (it does work in realgm)

They might want one of our other rookies, or Head too.

But, this would give them the combination of some young building block players, pick, expiring contracts, and marketing value.

We would lose depth, and a valuable building piece or two of our own. But, for the next couple years, as long as he stayed healthy, we COULD win a championship, IMHO. And, then we'd have some great salary relief ourselves.

We'd have to pick up a couple players, like a Harris ...

    Yao/Deke
    Hayes/Landry/Allen
    Battier/Novak/(Harris?)
    TMac/Head/Francis
    Kidd/Brooks/Armstrong

But, this might be as good or better than the deal Dallas was offering.

LOL, this is funny but yet so true. And of course the Rafer-Lovers definently don't think we need JKidd!

    Roughly agree with you.

See Shaq and Yao, T-Mac and Kobe, what's the defference?

    Absoluteky different hearts.

    We need a brave heart.
