I remember that record breaking thread on this BBS when he was drafted and I was one of the haters and opposed to drafting him back then. I have since seen him play infrequently on NBA League pass and he didn't look that bad in his purported weak areas, speed and athleticism. He took it to the hole on a number of occasions and didn't just camp out on the three point line like I expected him to. I would give the Magic Mike James or Steve Francis for JJ and a pick.
Why didn't we try to get Korver before he got traded to Jazz? He is much better catch-and-shoot shooter with solid defense ability. I couldn't believe sixers traded him...
Har har har! But I agree with DD, I think he would be helpful. Redick deserves a spot in this league, even if Orlando won't give it to him.
I'd be all for the idea if we could trade them somebody useless like Snyder and his expiring contract for a shot with Redick.
We already got our slow sharpshooter in Novak. In fact if you think about it, every NBA team has one. We don't need two of them. Spurs got Bonner. Utah has Korver. Dallas has Fazakes. Raptors have Kapono. Bulls have Viktor Khryapa. And the list goes on.
Not a fan of his game at all, and I really think a team should only have one honkey who is pretty much only good for open shots, BUT if it only involved players that are not in the rotation (Snyder, SF or MJ)...why not? As far as Luther, I'm sorry but he is a better player than JJ. Much more athletic...and if you think Luther gets burned on D b.c of his speed, wait til you see JJ defend.
All I want from trades ryt now is a backup C or a true PF or a bigger and quicker SG or an expiring contract
No thanks. He's not significantly better than Novak on D (and certainly much worse than Luther). At least Luther has proven he can get his own shot on the NBA level and I doubt JJ would be able to shoot at a much better % than Head. Head, for all his faults >>>>>>JJ As for Mike James for JJ...well I think we could get a little better than that (at least I hope anyway).
i puked in my mouth a little. another short tweener who is a one trick pony. Luther is better than JJ . dam Van Gundy is ruining another one!
LOL, JJ? This must be a joke. JJ can't get playing time over Kenyon Dooling and Keith Bogans. That right there should tell you how good or bad he is. Plus, we already have a taller version of him. Oh, and I definitely don't want to see one of these: <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/W9HPmOIyF9g&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/W9HPmOIyF9g&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object> We don't need more guards that can't finish. Let alone airball a point blank layup.
Wow, this thread gave me the strongest sense of deja vu. I literally remember reading a thread with posts exactly like the ones here. Maybe someone can dig it up. I had to go back and make sure this was not an old thread dredged up from the past. Redick is intriguing, but nothing more than a situational player.
If you think about it, Bonner Barry and Horry really don't do much anymore besides hit the open three. And slot Bowen in there if you're talking about offensive skills alone. You simply cannot make an argument that there is no room for a Redick-type player on the Rockets just because we have Novak. Novak has to guard 4's. That's his problem. If there was a Redick-like player on this team, Luther Head would be out of a job.
