    [rquoter]Hillary's word: It's worth nothing

    Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2008

COURTING VOTERS in Iowa and New Hampshire, last August Sen. Hillary Clinton signed a pledge not to "campaign or participate" in the Michigan or Florida Democratic primaries. She participated in both primaries and is campaigning in Florida. Which proves, again, that Hillary Clinton is a liar.

Clinton kept her name on the Michigan ballot when others removed theirs, she campaigned this past weekend in Florida, and she is pushing to seat Michigan and Florida delegates at the Democratic National Convention. The party stripped those states of delegates as punishment for moving up their primary dates.

"I will try to persuade my delegates to seat the delegates from Michigan and Florida," Clinton said last week, after the New Hampshire primaries and Iowa caucuses were safely over.

Clinton coldly and knowingly lied to New Hampshire and Iowa. Her promise was not a vague statement. It was a signed pledge with a clear and unequivocal meaning.

She signed it thinking that keeping the other candidates out of Michigan and Florida was to her advantage, but knowing she would break it if that proved beneficial later on. It did, and she did.

New Hampshire voters, you were played for suckers. [/rquoter]

Hillary is Hillary. This is not surprising at all. Just one of the reasons I could never vote for her under any circumstances. If the Dems nominate her, I hope they suffer the appropriate consequences by losing an easy shot at the presidency and by gaining precious little in Congress.

The only way she can offset her negatives is with her VP pick. But even with that, it’s going to be hard for her.

Agree with this article, and as Max said, how can you defend her
    on this one?

    It's the win-at-all-costs people-will-forget-in-time sort of politics
that make me so damned angry at whatever politician or party
    uses them.

She could lose California. The Arnold endorsement is big here
    with both lefties and righties.

I can't believe people will give her a "pass" on this Michigan and
Florida crap. I guess she's going to claim she did "not campaign"
    in Florida.

This is just more proof that she can't be trusted, and that ambition trumps ethics with her.

I hope Obama trounces her soundly.

You know, his name actually has the same number of A's in it that NASA does! That might help you remember it. :D

I cannot see myself ever voting for her, and it's because of huge gaps in integrity such as this.

That's the first thing I thought of when I read this. How naive can you be to believe that anyone who signs the 80-20 thing is giving more than lip service?

Did anyone actually read all the stuff in the link provided in basso's original post?

Here are a few things noted by the readers in the Your Comment section:

    1) According to area news, Obama's TV ads were still running northern Florida before its primary.

    2) Hillary went to Florida to thank her supporters after the poll was closed, showing the due respect.

    3) Fundraising is allowable under the terms of the pledge. Obama himself had one a few months back in Tampa - St. Petersburg after signing the pledge:

DNC is disenfranchising Florida voters, giving them the finger. Obama and his ilks are complicit. They should not be acting in shock when the repercussion hit them back in full force.
