didn't we win 60% of our games when yao go out last yr? i'm just trying to apply the same logic as the thread starters. we've won a few games (unlike the last few yrs) AND 90% wants to trade tmac. so shouldn't we have looked into a trade for yao last yr? (the answer is NO). if u can win without one of your stars, when u have both, it's likely you'll be better.
Yes. He played well (7 dimes...probably would be 9 or 10 if Luther/Rafer could have made an open shot). It's a little hard to drive to the hole on a Utah frontcourt of Boozer, Okur and AK47 combined with an offense that has your center and non-shooting PF camped out under the basket), so of course his shooting % is going to be down. Go ahead and blame TMac for the Utah loss...I'll just mark you down as another poster who knows little about NBA basketball.
It would be very easy, but somewhat time consuming, so I'm not going to bother breaking down your post piece-by-piece. Instead, I will stick to my original statement that everyone who chose the last option on this poll is, in fact, a moron. To this date, Yao and McGrady have really only played barely over two seasons together, and they were both very spotty seasons. Just watch what happens when McGrady comes back with a couple weeks worth of games under his belt after the knee injury. The results will be good. Crow will be eaten. But I no longer care for these threads right now.
I nominate this for "Worst Post of the Day" Please adjust your overall record to games that the two of them have played together. And who cares if Yao's numbers go down. It's a TEAM sport and wins matter, not stats, my little YOF.
I have no problem with that. My base is that T-Mac consistently missed shots with low FG%. His personal stats might be beautiful, but that is one way doing no good to the team.
Do you know how much less makes off of T-mac? You know who was selling more jerseys in China, don't you? T-mac and Yao sell merchandise. Les isn't going to get rid of guys who drives revenues and sells tickets. They may not fill the stadium, but at lest they sell the seats.
i don't like cigars, anyway. lol. sorry i was talking off the top of head. now a lil dig shows the following for mcgrady's shots made/attempted, and minutes played during the 4-game winning streak. 4-12, 27 min 7-15, 30 min 13-23, 35 min 5-14, 36 min avg. = 7.25-16, 32 min. you obviously got the minutes right, but 13.5 shots per game? you either have math problem or were doing that on purpose. want to know yao's avg. shots per game during that span? total shots attempted by the team? eve if your claim was right, taking 13.5 shots IN 4 GAMES = buying into the system? seem you've got logic problem, too.
Fact - players play better in the new system Fact - T-mac has not been part of the system, because he has been injured. So give him time to get into the system.
Are we talking about improving the team or what is better for marketing in China? I'm not saying Tmac's $20 million is costing Les money nor do I even care. I'm more concerned that it is $20 million on the salary cap that could be spent some where else. Depending on what that $20 million was spent on we may or may not be better off. Discuss specific trades and I will give you an opinion, but even then we would be making educated guesses at best. It's just ironic that a primary counter arguement made for not trading Tmac is that he wouldn't be worth anything of value in a trade.... Doesn't that say volumes about how much faith we all should have in him leading us to a championship at this point? Like I said, I'm not a proponent of dumping Tmac, but I certainly don't consider him untouchable either. IF we can get good value then we consider the trade on a case by case basis. If not we keep him and see what happens.
I believe if the tandem of Yao and T-Mac can't get us to a championship, no other combination of either or will. So for me, no, I haven't lost faith in him yet. I'd have to see him obviously giving up and not even trying out there to give up.
Get another quality star (SF or SG) who really worth $20M to replace T-mac, that guy will become the #1 jersery seller. No doubt about it.
don't - look, it's only 20% of people who want to trade t-mac. 80% haven't given up on him yet. That's a pretty sizable majority. Now we at least know that it's only a small minority that's shouting for this.
