Charles Barkley was probably the hardest working man in the NBA throughout his career. Just look at what he did through his career and you can see that. OK so his defense isn't spectacular but he was 6'4" playing in the power forward position which means he was in the middle playing against guys that were 6'9" and taller. In fact didn't he end his career trying to block a shot? Yes he did. If he is not hard working then how do you account for the rebounding titles and being in the in the top ten in rebounding until the end? How do account for the MVP awards, the 20-10 Club, and his endless drive to win. e stayed in the league as long as he did to win a championship. He is one of the 50 greatest of all-time. I don't think his greatness or hard working ability should be questioned at all.

I'm the biggest Barkley fan on the planet, but that doesn't mean I've lost touch with reality. The simple fact was that he did not work very hard. In retrospect that is part of his brilliance, he was undersized, slow, fat, and without a work ethic, yet still used his sheer desire to GET THE BALL and his brain to dominate other players. All that is amazing. Some people believe that his lack of work ethic is what kept him from going that extra inch into a championship. I don't buy it. I think he had his chances taken away by bad luck at the wrong times.
No he really didn't work that hard.

It's amazing how fiercely Charles Barkley played on the court, considering how lackadaisically he prepared.

You can look at that paradox either way you want.
