right on montgo, So, I always find mind self liking Mobley's jump back Js, more than the standing shots, like last night. Trust me, this is the *first* time he has chosen that as a last shot. I have to believe he is overthinking the game if he chose that. I much prefer shots on the move. I liked the Laker game pass to Willis (easy dunk if Willis is awake to shield Fox) I liked the Knicks shot (jump back J at the elbow) I liked the Indiana shot (14' jump back J) I like these shots because they are on the move and many shooters out there will agree that you can grasp the ball off the dribble more cleanly when on the move. I like these shots because Mobley practices them over and over, and they get the defender on the move, and he might not be able to hang, so you can drive. I like those shots on the move, because I shoot them. It is the only way I can get a shot off when needed. They aren't as hard as the look, and in shooter country, that is what we shoot. In Illinois/Indiana/Kentucky, every HS perimeter kid practices those hours on end...it seems. Show up early for a game and watch, Mobley. He practices the jump back J because he needs it. At crunch time, he made one with 39 seconds to tie it. He made 5 of 8 2nd half shots heading into that last shot. Why change Mobes? <b>But I did not like this shot.</b> Since when does Mobley not test a drive. That shot reminds me of what slower, less talented SGs like Ron Mercer do, who know they can't get separation. I consider that a more difficult shot than a runner, fadeway, or most anything on the move. Maybe it is personal preference. Mobley does make those...but usually the man is on his heals as montgo says and not in the last second when all his previous shots were on the move?? Give me a Jordan-esque drive and stop.jump. Dive into the lane, and pull your dribble back, then jump for the J with Russell on his heals. Mobley, just try a dribble with change of direction, once. You can get the separation for a 12 footer. But not the dreaded standing, enyo face and shoot. Shoot on the move! Try for separation once, not all speed/quick release all the time, especially if your ankles really are taking some of the speed away. <b>DearRock</b> OK, we read it. I've read it before from you. Now, how many more times are you going to have us read it. You hate Mobley and want him out of town. You have your reasons; you used to like him; you hated Maxwell, too. Fine. Just put it in your signature and be done with it. "<i>I hate Mobley's play; it makes me cringe. I hate it so much; I don't see anything good that he does, anymore.</i>" btw: please stop saying he is worthless if his shot isn't falling...that's too far. Mobley at 42% 3s still draws a lot of attention away from Francis just by standing in the corner, just like Max helped Dream, just by standing out there. Also, he plays solid defense when his ankles aren't screwing with him. I consider him our best perimeter defender right now. He is no matador. And this is no apology...I consider those two points proven facts.
There is no freaking reason to lie to make your point. That was a 14 footer....do you want to see the Jonathan Feigan report on that!!! Do you want to see the Harrington quote on clutchcity.net front page that says, "I thought he was going to go back for a 3 pointer, but he drove." Criticize, but don't lie. Some of you guys just make bold face lies, or you are blind morons. You know that wasn't a "force" anyhow. You are lying about that, too. If you think that 14'er was a force, versus Mobley testing a drive and getting enough separation on a 6'9 defender to get a clean fadeawy off, you are no shooter, and probably no basketball player. The amount of times I see you making bold face lies and the amount of stupid trade scenarios you have, it's starting to make me think you are lying about playing college ball. so, leebeegeebee, what is that college team you played for.
My biggest problem with it was that his feet were not behind the line. The payoff is so much greater for a marginally different shot than the one he took. But oh well, it is just 1 regular season game, hopefully they learn from it. MObley did get the Rockets in a position to have a chance at that game one Franchise was tossed. Oh, by the way, why don't ya'll criticize the front line play against the old man and on the boards. That kept the Rockets from even needing a final shot to get the win.
maybe a pick would have set him up to move or maybe, he just should have tried to allude Russell. Russell has lost his step and I am confident that Mobes can beat him off the dribble or at least create some movement to get a better shot! some hate mobes, some love him, some think he makes poor shot selections...but the coolest part about Mobes is that even when he is shooting poorly, he does contribute in other ways...for example, a guy like Thomas taking 4 shots and most were jumpers is a joke. when you start you have to get your average every night or at least attempt to. Cat does this and he is a threat as seen by other teams, which is a good thing at the 2...so we chalk it up to poor shot selection, keep Francis in the game, get some picks set, have thomas, cato and willis score at least their average and we win! we beat this one up now and let's move on...the best part of this is that we are now back to a three way tie for the Yao Ming sweepstakes : )
Just when I was in full agreement, you have to go kill Kenny. Kenny had 3 steals and 4 Blocks, too. And two dishes for slams as I recall...one to Cato for sure. He had another monster stuff of a slam!!. This time with Eddie watching it. There is nothing wrong with having Kenny stop shooting . . . he is a hard worker in all phases of the game, imo.
I dont care if Cuttino would of made that shot or not. The guy is really talented, hes one of the quickest players but hes really dumb when it comes to executing in the end. He should use his advantages and try to drive or pass it out. Playing one on one basketball is not going to win games for you. Mobley will never learn.
KT has proven he is not an offensive flash...he has to get involved and he has to get his average at least...I do not expect him to drop 20 every night, but any player needs to get his average..especially when Francis was slammed. sorry...i did not mean to kill KT...I like KT...only was making a point that KT has a tendency to disappear at times and last night was a not a good night to do so...Mobes seems to make runs, even when he has been quiet in a game....
Crispee- actually, i meant to say 15ft and my typo got into it. Either way it was a poor shot just like last night. I played D-1 in tx and thats all you need to know. Thats my bad on the typo, but whats the difference when someone says we start the offense a 127ft out on the floor. They're basically saying we start the offense to high. If I upset you with my posting so much, just ignore them. You're like a abused wife that keeps running back to her husband. If you don't like something, just move on with it, its no need to run your blood pressure up over a stupid ass post on a message board.
1. Refs tend not to call fouls at the end of the game. That is not going to change anytime soon. 2. Mobes has bad ankles right now which is keeping him from driving as much, check his free throw attempts per game. 3. When he penetrated and dished against the Lakers, Willis got worked by Rick Fox and all the Mobley hatas came out and said that he should have shot instead of dishing. He's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.
