I don't think that is true at all. I don't agree with Barkley on a lot of things but I don't think race is an issue. He loves Nash, Ginobili and Dirk. I think it actually stems from his belief that Yao is too soft for a big man.

 

Look I cant think of one, not even ONE team that would pass on Yao in favor of Camby. Maybe uneducated fans, but not a professional Gm anywhere!

Saying some teams would take Camby over Yao is like saying some teams would take Stacy Augman over Jordan

Look, if Yao were black, this wouldn't even be a discussion. He would have been the unanimous best Center in the NBA for the last 3, 4 years. But since he's from China, he never will be.

Its all good man. I just didn't want you to think I was some guy who just posted random, false facts for no reason. I would've guessed Cassell would've started, since he was clearly better than Recasner, but I guess Rudy still liked him as a spark off our bench, which did help us win 2 titles, but you're right, Cassell did prove to everyone that he deserved to be a starter after his Rockets days.

I was a Rockets fan since I was a little kid and I always will be.

Just because someone can draw attention by saying idiotic things doesn't make them less idiotic. You are confusing the ability to draw attention with the ability to make any sesne at all. Did i ever say camby was better than yao? read through all my posts and then read them again.

if i had to build a team around a player, i'd definitely pick yao. but if i were don nelson and wanted a quick, defensive-minded center to patrol the lanes in my up-tempo style of play, i'm probably go for camby.

and you're confusing fact and opinion. btw, your own stacey augmon example can be used right back at you.

my point was that based on the way some teams are structured, camby would be a greater asset than yao. the majority are in yao's favor, but not all of them.

if you want to talk about stats, camby is the reigning defensive player of the year. his defensive stats are noticeably better than yao's.

thats why i think some teams would select camby over yao.

As said by many posters before, you're an idiot. NO GM in the NBA would take Marcus Camby over Yao. You know why? Because:

1. Yao is a franchaise player and border line superstar you can build around
2. Camby is plain worse, not to mention he missed more games than Yao has over the last couple of years
3. If the Yao experiment doesn't work out, you can EASILY trade Yao for Camby + somebody else + 1st rounder. The reverse is not true.
