Why? He doesn't just give us nothing offensively, he gives to the other team defensively. He needs to get a jump shot or reside to the bench.
I love Chuck, but maybe it is time to put him on the bench so he can come in with Tmac. He can go back to starting once Mcgrady goes back into the starting lineup. The unit that starts games looks really weak offensively.
It's not like he plays all the minutes. Scola has been getting just as much, sometimes more minutes than Hayes in these recent weeks. Hayes is still our best defender out of the 3 PFs.
I don't have a problem with him starting as long as Adelman yanks him quick when it's obvious he hurts the team, like tonight's game. I think Adelman has finally figured out Chuck doesn't need to play the first 10 minutes of every game. But if we get off to a good start and Chuck is helping the team, let him play most of the 1st quarter.
He didn't start the 2nd half.....Scola and Landry played all those minutes. And...did the defense suffer? DID IT? Portland scored 29 points in the ENTIRE 2nd half. DD
Adelman is a crazy coach. He Started Head a couple games before. The bench him for several games. Head started again today.
After this game, we should start thinking about starting either Landry or Scola in place of Chuck. He could be our defensive specialist that plays only when the match-up calls for it. He's not well-rounded enough of a player to be starting for this team. Battier doesn't do much offensively, but at least he can shoot, and can make a hook shot.
I don't think chuck should totally be out of the rotation. He just is not a good fit with Yao on the court offensively.
Actually, I like Carl playing while TMAC is on the floor. Carl seems to finish much better than Chuck especially with TMAC distributing inside. Carl Landry is quickly making Chuck expendable in terms of playing time.
Adelman will play the lineup that works for the particular situation. There are some nights (Washington, Orlando) when Chuck is particularly useful. Tonight isn't his night, it belongs to Landry and Scola. I'm just glad that there is some frontline depth with guys able to contribute any give night.
Chuck Hayes continues to start because Carl Landry picks up stupid fouls. You can't play a player if he's fouled out. Plain and simple as that.
We need Chuck as spark plug. He is still valuableto this team. One thing that bothers me is he has been missing lately because hes not using the board anymore.
Is match up Portland is a horrible team in the paint the are all perimeter shooters so, Hayes have no impact in the defense. But that is why we are so versatile, we can now play small ball with teams like Portland and Big vs teams like Spurs Vs the Jazz we problably need Hayes more but for GS we need to play more of today game and Hayes out and Yao less minutes.
I really don't know. The only real upside to Chuck Hayes is that he can play defense. His defense is better than Scola and Carl right now. Hayes has fast hands that helps his strip balls. Another reason is that he can switch from PF and the F position. In the Sonic game, last pos. they had Hayes on Durant and he stripped it out of bounds. I would suggest starting Hayes only if we are going against good PFs, such as Utah, Boston, Spurs, etc... Otherwise Scola should start with Carl coming off the bench!
chuck is starting so we can have some edge over the opponents when both teams start to run backups? however, chuck .....work on your reverse layup and easy baskets SERIOUSLY!!!!!!!!! or , u can choose to dunk if u can......
Chuck is still a young guy, he can improve. I think he just lost his confidence on the offensive end with all the booing he got.
