i have like 8 ps3 games -__- never see you online. http://softrockhallelujah.blogspot.com/ <-- surfer girl
I don't think any major facts like that (8-player coop) were wrong, just some of the smaller things that weren't explained very well when the news initially broke (EX: people may have thought at first that coop was the same campaign as the single-player campaign). Video interviews from GI: <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/i0_XYdky1Qw&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/i0_XYdky1Qw&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object> <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/VCV8GmCj8jo&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/VCV8GmCj8jo&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object> <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/NDx5FvSJ0Kg&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/NDx5FvSJ0Kg&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object> Surfer Girl's blog (just google surfer girl ) http://softrockhallelujah.blogspot.com/ On further inspection, a LOT of the stuff she posted is correct (or close to it). Again, I'll post more on this later if I decide to post more rumors from her site.
Insomniac's podcast is up: http://www.insomniacgames.com/podcast/podcast.php They don't really comment that much about Resistance 2 for obvious reasons. They do note that the Chameleon is not a Stalker but a creature, and that classes are not confirmed for multiplayer (just coop). They clarify that the randomized geometry was just for coop, although I think I mentioned that earlier.
those shots show how much power the PS3 has in its arsenal, and the PS3 is 1 year behind the 360 but it already has much better graphics!
I wonder how we'll be able take them out in this game. It was tough enough taking down just one of those in the first game, and it was all by itself IIRC. Having to go against 2+ Goliaths, plus any Chimera (or other Chimera vehicles) seems pretty crazy (better have a lot of tanks, and maybe some Stalkers to "borrow"). I think this is all just from the first level too. That, and/or it proves how bad Insomniac is making most developers look.
Oh Christ. C'mon now man. Screenshots of an unreleased game show "much better graphics?" Give me a ****ing break.
FWIW, it isn't like this is the only game to show off the "much better graphics." You don't even have to look at unreleased games, just look at Uncharted, R&C ToD, GT5P, etc. As I said before though, I'm not sure if this is so much the PS3's hardware advantage as it is some amazing efforts by these developers. When you got Polyphony Digital, Naughty Dog, Insomniac, etc., developing exclusively for your console, you're going to get some great results in the visuals department (especially when you consider that they're working together and sharing a lot of tech). If you have them working on 360 games instead, I'm sure the results might be a little different. As it is, I'm sure Epic and Remedy (along with some other developers) will be putting out some games that look incredible on the 360 this year and in the upcoming years. I don't think either machine has really been pushed to the limits, so don't think that what we've seen so far is the best these machines can do. Maybe we'll look back in 4-5 years and comment on how games like Gears of War and Uncharted look dated.
Didn't want to make a new thread for something that didn't give us much, but Insomniac released a R2 teaser (I repeat, a teaser) on GTTV last night: <object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=8,0,0,0" id="gtembed" width="480" height="392"> <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" /> <param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /> <param name="movie" value="http://www.gametrailers.com/remote_wrap.php?mid=32739"/> <param name="quality" value="high" /> <embed src="http://www.gametrailers.com/remote_wrap.php?mid=32739" swLiveConnect="true" name="gtembed" align="middle" allowScriptAccess="sameDomain" allowFullScreen="true" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="480" height="392"></embed> </object> I guess since there's not much to the teaser, it seems like most people are just debating whether it is real-time or not. It seems a bit too good to be true to me (maybe pre-rendered with in-game assets), but I'm not sure if I want to count out Insomniac. I don't even think they've ever promoted their games using anything other than in-game/realtime footage (the first R&C footage seemed too good to be true as well I guess). As the teaser states, GTTV will have an exclusive first look at gameplay for the game on June 13th (one day after MGS4, great timing ). I think a new trailer is supposed to go up on the PSN to coincide with the launch of the new store, but it might just be the same teaser.
I haven't been this excited about a video game in awhile. Resistance holds a special place in my heart. I had PS3 at day one and Resistance was the only thing worth a damn.
I was just replaying Resistance through this morning with the dualshock to see how it played. That teaser makes me smile. Insomniac really leads the pack on eyepopping PS3 design.
Sort of off-topic and old, but I thought I'd post this for the Resistance/Insomniac fans that haven't seen it yet: <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Q86tZxuWngo&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Q86tZxuWngo&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object> Some Resistance 2 hints in the video, although you probably won't know what they mean until we get more info later on (EX:what does 0708 mean?).
