I've been digging the Kanpachi (or Kampachi), a type of yellowtail farm raised in Hawaii. Here's a website: http://www.kona-blue.com/ What fish do you like to eat raw?
EEL!! absolutely amazing. Shrimp is good, salmon, octopus is all right (just a little chewy). And as a side Agedashi Tofu soup, simply amazing. There is a place downtown called Azuma, pretty legit. They also have a roll called "the crazy irishman" which is pretty badass.
I think all sushi for the most part is overpriced. It's nice to find a good place where the fish is fresh. There's nothing worse than a mediocre, expensive sushi place and I absolutely cannot stand places with those damn conveyor belts because you end up spending like $15-20 bucks for a bunch of crap when you can spend another 10 or so and get something a lot better. All this sushi talk is making me hungry and I've been salivating for it the last few days anyhow. I think an order of Tempura udon and fresh sashimi is on the agenda for tonight.
Sashimi: White tuna Sushi: most types of specialty rolls, which are ridiculously overpriced... Otherwise, philly roll or anything with eel in it
Uni (sea urchin) & ikura (salmon eggs). After about two chews, they explode in your mouth with flavor.
