How many blow outs have we had this year vs last year?I know it's alot of stat guys on this board, but to me just seem like we were going in the right direction and now we are heading backwards.Last year seem like every few games we were blowing somebody out.We lost to Philly both times this year and beat them by a combined 80 points last year.I just moved from Philly and in there post game shows they admitted to having no answers for the rockets(last year) it was great!...why can't we blow teams out now????

I've been thinking about this around half time of every game for the past month. I'm always hoping we can put teams away in the 3rd or early 4th quarter and then realize we rarely do.

This year's team is much more talented individually but not as good as last year as a team. This year they can beat good teams but lost really weak team. They are not stable more unpredictable, which means they are not trained well.

Last year's team were trained greatly by coach JVG and his crew. They are really 'predictable'. They won who they can win and lost who was better than them. They played much better defense last year so that they blew out about 20 games (won more than 20s) and had a very abnormal large 'score difference'. Base on this variable, Hollinger thought last year Rockets should win about 57 games.

This year the denfense is much worse than last years. Hayes minutes has been reduced a lot. Tmac didn't put lots efforts on D and Bonzi is Bonzi. The rockeys just are not good as D. Hayes is way undervalued by the fans here. like the last home game against Supersonics, in the 3rd quarter Hayes blocked a shot, made a steal and forced a turnover three possessions in a row. Those things results easy baskets and broke sonics offense rythm. The rockets got leads. Please remember, even though landry is very impressive in offense in the 2nd quarter, Rockets was outscored.

Last night I reviewed the highlight of this year's games. I just found how many Hayes did both ends. It's intangible in individual stats. But it is tangible in team stats. It's outscore others. It transfer to the wins. You can win a game without scores. It's called defense.

By the way, I think Yao improved a lots on his defense and become dominate inside. He didn't pick up stupid fouls anymore. He also get more offense rebounds which are big for rocket offense.

Give Adelman some time. When we do well this season, don't come crawling back.

    Unnecessary b****ing.

Last year, the defense was unrelenting and JVG would not call them off (or play the end of the bench until the bitter end). The defense has not been as good this year, but we have a lot of new faces, especially three rookies who are in the rotation.

Ding ding ding and you are correct!!
I don't know how people don't see it, but Adelman is a freaking amazing coach...the guy has done so much with this team already in such little time (even though our record doesn't show it) Look we are about to go on a serious run from here on out...Yes we will still lose games and we probably won't go on a long winning streak, but we will probably win 65%-70% of our games from here on out.

Send me your glasses. He looks befuddled to me. Do you see plays, do any of you see plays? Are they running plays or just running around? Is there a system out there?

Last year our victory margin was top 5 I believe. One of the most important stats in judging a teams quality, especially after all 82 games are said an done. And to think we were top 5 in the West! This year I think we have a +2 margin MAX. Someone could research it and give this more cred..

Because we matched up bad with utah....once yao was neturalized on offense and was a non factor on boozer on defense then the series was over.We was one player away form winning that series and moving to the next round of the play offs.We got too greedy and let jvg go too fast imo

i agree. JVG had more leadership skills, more poise, and more heart as a basketball coach.
