Huh? Why this now? Alston has cemented his starting role.

Mike James and Francis are a couple of jokes.

Yea with the busts that are Mike James and Steve Francis, I would have thought that the Chronicle would have bumped that article back up to prove their validation.

James and Francis aren't the real competition for that spot. Brooks is.

    At least now.

And man, Brooks has been struggling lately. I think if he can come out of his funk, he will start to push Rafer again. Still looks a bit lost running the show though...

And Brooks hasn't broken 14 minutes the past 4 games.

He is a rookie, so inconsistency is kind of par for the course. On top of that I don't think it's easy to maintain any type of rhythm when you don't see a lot of minutes.

Don't want to sound like a broken record here, but playing Brooks at least 12-15 minutes a night is a win-win situation. Alston plays much better when he's pushed. And Brooks is only going to improve as he gets more minutes.

You know what made me laugh? When Rafer was injured and we saw the alternative, that was a real riot. It was so funny it makes lots of Rockets fans cry.

Weird timing of this thread seeing as he just hit a huge three at the end of the last game for us (his 5th of the night). His play minus a game or two has been pretty solid.

If Rafer Alston has "cemented" his role as the PG starter, the fate of this team is sealed. Mediocre, with a capital "M." The other PG's in the West must laugh and laugh.
"Got Rafer coming up next Tuesday?"
"Yeah, I'm skipping practice, no need to over prepare."
"I got him next week, what a welcome relief."
"Know what you mean, I had Steve last week, Baron yesterday, and Tony coming up."

Rafer is a nice, nice kid (except for occasional acts of violence), but he is foolsgold. Not starting material in the West. Just isn't, won't be, never going to be. The Rockets brought in everybody and their dog to replace him, and he is still there. Good handles, decent distributer, and it's all down hill from there. On what other team in the West or East would he start? Seriously. Who would trade for him? Come on.

he was something like 15-52 before that so not that weird. Unless you are telling me this is the turning point for him like somebody tried to claim right before he went 15-52.

Anyway I was commemorating the loss of the column more so than anything else.

Brooks is shooting over 44% from the field, much better than Rafer. He is not only the fastest player on our team he is also the best 3 point shooter. He still has to adjust to the NBA, but the best way for Aaron to learn is steady playig time. Brooks will easily surpass Rafer in defensive and offensive play, he just needs some experience.

it's hard to get Brooks steady time when you commit 3 fouls in 6 minutes like he did last game.
