Win 2/3 and I'll be feeling pretty good, 3/3 and things will be looking really really good!

Can't underestimate this Blazers team though. Weak schedule or not, they've been winning since their bad start. I agree with everyone else, this is a big, big game for us.

I desperately hope the Rox bring their 'A' game. It'll be incredibly disapointing if they don't.

Why do so many fans in the here believe the Rox will always blow out other teams, (6ers , hornets, sonics) and now the blazers. The blazers arent scrubs anymore in case yall noticed.

I am not making a statement based on nothing. I've watched at least 3 Portland's game this season including the one they played us last time. I admit they're a young & athletic team but it dosen't mean their interior O&D outporformed other teams. If you did pay attention to them, you would've found that they've been a good shooting team when they had a winning streak. Most of their shots they've made are not in the paint. They don't have a guy who can dominate the paint. Athletic != Dominate the paint. I am sure Greg would make a difference next season though.

Don't give me their record! Everyone knows they took a advantage of the schedule even though they played really well for the past. I still predict that they would be eliminated out of the 8 seeds.

Are the Rockets contenders or pretenders? The next three games will go a long way to determining that. If the Rockets want to make the playoffs, they need to win this one.

Definitely the most important stretch of games of the season thus far.

Just hope they're not worn out (McGrady in particular) to keep up with the Warriors. At least we get them and the Jazz at home.

I think that Scola's really gotta step up his shooting over these three games. He's almost 50% for the season, but he's shooting a woeful 30% over the past five. He's always getting those open looks, so he's got to maintain his teammates' confidence.

Me Either. I will be on a flight when they are playing. I dont feel the Rockets is like a box of chocolates. That is too sweet. :)

It's bad and good that I am going to miss the following two games against Blazers and Warriors due to a business trip and the 'Good' is I wont be pissed off and stuffed if anythhing bad happened to the outcomes of those two games.

The ideal result is a 3 winning streak. I guess I am not the only one expecting it. Go Rockets.

If the Rockets play tough defense, we can hang in there. If we slack, the Blazers will clobber us. I don't know which Rockets team will show up.

If we hit our free throws, make the point blank shots/layups, and not let off on the defence we should come out with a much needed win.

My main point of contention is that you feel they will BLOW us out
It will not be a west coast laugher, If we lose it will be close like the celtics, hornets games. We beat the spurs in a similar game WITH tmac. I think having tmac in this game gives us a VERY realisitic chance at winning the game. If they can't beat Portland, they don't deserve to be in the playoffs. I'm tired of hearing about this overachieving scrub Portland team

i am afraid that you may actually be right.....

    in term of athletic talent..

    portland > rox

    shooters?

    portand > rox

    finishers dunkers in fastbreak?

    portland > rox...

i can just picture portland getting layups after layups while the rox struggling to come back in transition defense....and on the other end, rox' offense stagnant, turns the ball over, low percentage....

Yeah, this could be a bad one. The Rockets have got to come out with some fire and play like the season's on the line. They've got to execute their offense and hustle on defense. Basically everything they haven't been able to do the last couple of games.

    Here's what the opposition thinks:

    http://www.blazersedge.com/story/2008/1/25/04745/2541

I think the writer's spot on, especially his discussion of the Rockets' weaknesses. Notice his fear of Yao. This would not be a good game for the Rockets to lose Yao for a quarter or two, like they've been doing with some regularity.

That guy's analysis is spot on.....Our best chance at winning is to get back on defense, contest shots, and hope that the Blazers have an off night shooting the basketball. We also have to crash the offensive boards and of course Mcgrady has to be big down the stretch again.

    Should be a good game.

After squeezing out that win over Seattle, the Rocks will be tired and over confident. Portland is very capable of sustaining a running game for all 48 minutes, something the Rocks can't do. Hey, I hope they go for a half court game to give us a chance. At any rate, I'll be climbing the wall and fervently urging the Rockets to prove me wrong.
