Why? did you think we played well? do you think this team has a distinct direction? what are you excited about? what do you think will change about this team in 10 games? 15? 20?
The starting lineup is the same, and the new additions hardly factor in. I expected more as you all did I'm sure, but it's not happening that way is it?
Why is it a big deal that the team must fit a certain pre-conceived mold? I just hope we're a "winning" team. Especially in the playoffs. Who cares how they win.
Our true identity = Thieves We steal games we aren't supposed to win (ie San Antonio, Detroit, Sonics)!
I am no denniscd, but I am going to have to say Yes, we did. We are a good defensive team, but a below average offensive team (at the moment). We were picking up our offense beautifully before we hit a little rough patch starting against New Orleans (a great defensive team). Where were you during that 5-game winning streak, including several double-digit wins on the road on back-to-backs?. I am pretty certain that you are going to be eating your words by the end of those "10", "15", AND "20" games. Wholly new coach, and almost a whole new set of rotation players means adjustment period. The best reason anyone can give you to "keep this team intact": It's January. And we have won 8 of our last 10. Anyways, as someone mentioned before, this whole "team identity" thing is a completely asinine sports cliche, and it has no meaning.
All I can say is...not yet we don't. Right now we are quickly becoming "The Team That Can't Shoot Free Throws". That's an identity.
Sad to say but with T-Mac back in the team has regressed. Passing's off, the offense looks sloppy and not enough guys are getting involved in the offense. It's like a crappy hybrid of JvG's old iso/pick and roll and Adelman's motion offense. I don't think it's going to get the job done against the elite teams. It barely got the job done against Seattle tonight.
Really? I thought RA's team will be much more offensive. OP: We will see at the end of the season. It's still a bit early to judge in the middle of the season given that T-mac missed 11 games, the rotation has just settled, every one is buying into RA's system and T-mac is trying to fit in.
Most games (even wins) are ugly. It is so difficult to get a ball in. A typical Adelman's team, who never know how to adjust or rotate right in time out.
I agree wholeheartedly. This team has no identity. Whether you liked JVG or not, there was a fire in his belly and that translated on the court as intensity on the defensive end. When he left/was fired, no one filled that void. We have a group of guys, talented or not, who don't have that will to win or the desperation to avoid losing.
We don't have one. We do when one of Yao or Tmac is out. Unless we make some serious noise in the playoffs, pretty sure one of them will be traded before the start of the 08-09 season.
we had 28 ASSISTS. rafer and the team were creating for tmac as most of his points were running off screens and catch and shoot. he rarely held the ball to create until late in the 4th when we needed him to. most teams don't run their complete offense down the stretch but rather let their best players take over. you guys are just not happy until tmac is traded (i'm not saying you) and he still might be if we don't advance out of the first round. but please, make some constructive criticisms and not just dog him.
