The insider says the Clipps might try to blow up the team again and is reluctant to give Odom a contract extension. They are basically saying that the owner again might not want to pay up. So they are looking for contracts ending this yr and a draft pick. They list teams interested none of which are the Rockets. My thoughts are , maybe the insider doesn't know what the hell they're talking about and why the rockets aren't interested in Odom? This yrs pick , walt williams, and a couple of more throw ins might do it. I know it will be said that when "Moses Malone" Taylor comes back we won't need him, but to maybe miss out on a very talented 21yr old sf would be a mistake. We might have to give up Thomas,Williams, and the pick this yr to get Taylor is worth it I think. Francis-Mobley-Odom-Griffin, I would go to war with that lineup and wouldn't feel like i couldn't compete. Then you could have a Cato or Collier at the 5 spot. What do anyone think about that lineup?

I'd love to do that deal, butI don't think Sterling will blow up the Clippers this time. He will most probably trade Piatowski, Mcinnis and Miles or Odom.

That's not blowing up the team, I just think they're gonna end up looking like:

    Kandi
    Brand
    Miles or Odom
    Richardson
    Acquired player

They could trade Piatowski, Miles and their highest pick this upcoming draft for the number one overall can't they?

Bonzi Wells and Damon Stoudamire for a 1st rounder, Odom, Mcinnis and Piatowski?

They can make better deals than the one with the Rockets.

*Note: Sterling would be very very stupid to blow his team up. If he's such a cheapskate, why not just sell the team? He isn't doing them any good.

He might be bluffing, but if you get rid of Lamar and McInnis, why would Brand resign? Of course the blazers have people to deal, but Bonzi is a free agent after this yr and will want to get paid. If we sent Walt, who could walk, and Thomas who will hav 1 more yr and is cheap, plus the pick this yr, why not. I don't know if they've started discussion, but it wouldn't hurt weakining a team ahead of you and making your team better.

This should be explored-Sterling signed Vinnie Del Negro or David Benoit just to get the team salary level to 31 mil only to cut the player after. He is not thinking along the same lines as everyone else- he might go for Walt. Odom would be an outstanding 3 or 4. I wish we could get him.

Right - this is just wishful thinking.......

    Sane,

Sterling has never shown that he'll sacrifice a little profit for players. He is for bettering the team's profit margin more than he is for bettering the winning percentage.

The 1st rd pick can't be traded for Odom till after the draft, I think, because one is owed to Vanc either this year or the next. A rule, me thinks, prevents teams from trading their draft picks in successive years. Anyone, (crispee, juanvaldez, etc.) with better info please chime in. Walt is gone after the season so I don't think any trade with Walt and the pick will work.

Don't tantaulize me with trade speculation with Odom...he's my favorite non rocket.:D

I think you're right joe joe about us owing a pick to vancuver. Walt, Langhi and maybe the stiff at center Collier then a future consideration might do it. Anyway you look at it, i hope they look into it. He's a 3 for sure, not a 4.

    Guys calm down,

You know the saying if its to good to be true, it probably............ you know rest.

First of all we're talking about the most asinine, boneheaded, and backwards owner in the entire sports world. Donald "Duck" Sterling. The guy couldn't make sense if he had a pocket full of Quarters!!!!!

The deals you guys propose sound to good and make to much sense for Mr. Sterling. This guy is the biggest idiot in sports,

(right next to "Money bags" Cuban in Dallas, whom I use to like when he first came into the league, but know I hate because I feel he's just taking away from the game at this point. Any guy who outshines his players is a idiot in my opinion. Somebody give this guy a book on "Idiots guide to being a owner". Owners don't belong on the bench next to the 6th man screaming at refs.)

Anyway make some deals that DON'T make sense and Sterling might actually do those.

Any guy who would trade a star player to someone in the same conference to come back and haunt them several times a year is definately the biggest idiot..................then again this is Mr Sterling we're talkin about. Hey maybe you guys are on to something!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:) :)

L.A. Clippers trades: Darius Miles $3,054,840 to Chicago
    TOTAL: $5,867,160

Chicago trades: Eddy Curry $2,678,400 to Houston
    TOTAL: $2,678,400

They said on NBA Tonight that Jeff Mcinnis also wanted out of L.A.
I know we couldn't use him but he could help out alot of teams in the league. And as far as the Odom thing he would fit perfect with Mobley, Wink, and EG. I just wish it was a way to get him.

we already have a drug problem in Taylor. do we want another one in Odom? Learn from the mistakes of 1987.

I mentioned something about this earlier, but I forgot something-We also have the rights to the Toronto pick. Since that is due this year as long as it's not a lotto, I think we CAN in fact trade our pick, or the Toronto pick, but not both.

Odom would most definitely fit the wuv-fest. Remember, he and Mobley went to college together, and he's good friends with Francis.

That's also the attractiveness of Walt. His deal comes off the books, so he can free up 5 mill under the cap.

    Nike,

Has the conditions on the pick owed to Vanc come out? There were so many conflicting theories on that, but have never read in an article the conditions.

    Joe X2-

No one knows for sure. To the best of my knowledge and gathering, here's what it is:

-If we make the playoffs, they automatically receive our pick (14 or worse).

-If we don't make the playoffs, they get our pick next year, for better or for worse.

Either of these years, we have the option of conveying a top 15 pick to satisfy this obligation.
    -------------------------------------

Francis3-Is GS stupid? They're not going anywhere, so they ought to continue the Larry Hughes PG experiment. Travis Best isn't the long term answer, and if memory serves, he's a free agent this summer (or maybe next?). The Indiana pick isn't exactly lotto quality. Indiana would be loaded: Tinsley-Miller-Rose-O'Neal-Jackson, with Foster, Harrington, Bender, and Hughes off the bench? That's 9 serious players with guys like Brezec, Sundov, and Rogers rounding out the roster.

Yeah but look at the upside he would bring. Sure he made a couple of mistakes but I would take that chance. We have three "drug free" small forwards who aren't worth a damn

I'd rather we try to trade for Rashard than Odom. Lamar is a better passer but Lewis is a better shooter.

With Desmond Mason and Vlad Radmanovic, the Sonics are OK at SF even without Lewis, who has an option for next season.

Houston trades: First round pick in 2002 Draft to Seattle
Houston trades: Dan Langhi $465,850 to Seattle
Houston trades: Kenny Thomas $946,920 to Seattle
Houston trades: Kevin Willis $3,000,000 to Seattle
    TOTAL: $4,412,770

Seattle trades: Rashard Lewis $4,413,375 to Houston
    TOTAL: $4,413,375

    TRADE ACCEPTED

I'd hardly consider Mo being busted once as having a problem. All I've heard that Odom did was pot no? Not that huge of a deal to me, and I think both should be able to control themselves.

I would love to get Odom on this team w/o losing one of our big 3.

Rash is okay, but Odom is a star.

First of all, if Donald Sterling does in fact break up this team, or feels the need to let a couple of players just walk away then he is a true cheap-skate and moron.

However, if Lamar Odom was in fact on the Rockets, they would be a true contender, and if it was for Walt, and trade fodder, then it would indeed be a great move. However, I highly doubt this trade would go through, but hey there's nothing wrong with dreamcasting.
