    http://formatwarcentral.com/index.php/2008/01/20/rb-films-to-exclude-hd-dvd-for-future-releases/
I believe this was the thread at AVS that he is mostly talking about:
    http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=924286
And the thread at Blu-ray.com where he mentions dropping HD DVD (and why):
    http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?p=531890#post531890

This doesn't really mean much at all for the format war, but I found this all pretty funny. It wouldn't surprise me that some HD DVD fans would "abuse" him, but I didn't think a studio would actually drop support because of that (although the size of this studio may have something to do with that).

not really surprising. what is surprising is how neogaf is slowly turning into a biased site (maybe they always were). i got banned for using M$ once...how petty is that?? they also made che a mod. to me, that's the push that made me think their biased. che is a hardcore ms fanboy, obviously, cuz he works for microsoft. if he had more objective or unbiased opinions, i would think otherwise.

You should have gotten banned for using M$ (unless maybe you also used $ony and um...Nint€ndo?). IMO, it is pretty stupid to do that, and it doesn't really add to any useful discussion regarding a particular topic.

Where did you see that Che is a mod? He isn't listed as a mod in the forum leaders section, nor is his name colored red (like other mods). I may have missed any threads that talked about this if there was one (haven't really paid attention to Che's latest posts either). His "reputation" is pretty bad there ("should start looking for proxies"), so I don't think you'd be the only one that would disagree with such a move.

It doesn't really seem any more biased than it used to IMO, at least the staff part of it anyway. They all have differing viewpoints, but they're generally pretty good at being fair and unbiased when it comes to moderating the forums. There is one mod that I don't really like, but that doesn't really have anything to do with bias (at least bias when it comes to video games).

dude I hope you work for Sony someday. The PS3 Truck was at our office last month, I could have given them your resume or at least bugged them for a free game or something. I still have that Playstation headband for you or Cola. I'm not going to wear it! ;)

I've heard that the PS3 might be discontinued entirely due to poor sales.

I heard that all PS3 owners are also going to have to pay 200 bucks out of their own pocket to help cover Sony's massive bankruptcy.

disagree with the ban, agree with the second part. i coined the term from neogaf and people still use it on that forum w/o getting banned. i probably just touched on a sensitive subject and rubbed them the wrong way (im good at that).

I don't know the context of your post, so I can't tell if your ban was fair. I don't even pay attention to see if others that do post "M$" get banned, although even if they aren't, it is certainly frowned about. Personally, I probably would have banned anyone who did that regardless of the context, unless it was a joke or something, like I mentioned earlier. I probably would have made it a 24 hour ban (or less if possible?) though, making it more of a severe warning rather than the usual type of ban.

You had me scared for a minute. I thought maybe I missed some very entertaining threads.

    Did Fox Flip Warner?
    By Mark Fleischmann
January 22, 2008 — Warner's decision to drop HD DVD and concentrate on Blu-ray releases may have been the climax of an epic bout of flipflopping. Or so says the rumor mill.

Here's what people are saying: Warner wanted a conclusion to the format war because it was "not only slowing the adoption of high-definition discs, but also hurting their regular DVD sales," according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Gizmodo takes up the tale: "Warner actually wanted to go HD DVD. They gave Toshiba the chance to bring another studio into the HD DVD camp before they turned Blu. Fox was lined up, and told the HD DVD camp it was going to switch to HD DVD, which would've also turned Warner exclusively HD DVD. At the last possible minute, it nixed the deal."

    Ouch.

It's also been reported in various places that Fox got $120 million in promo cash from Sony, and Warner somewhere between $400-500 million.

That might suggest that deeper pockets always win. But if that's the case, why didn't Blu-ray win from the outset? The truth is probably that money and timing both turned the tide. For the moment, though, HD DVD still exists.
