I would give up James and Head in a heartbeat to get Davis.

I haven't been a fan of Davis since his days in Cleveland when he went for that triple double in garbage time by purposely missing shots to get his own rebound.

As much as I don't like Head's inability to pass and make good decisions, his ability to shoot the three well is a highly valuable asset to the team, and I wouldn't want to give him up for a moron who's also playing on an absolutely horrible team. The negativity of being on a bad team means something. He's playing with Wade and Shaq and their team still sucks. I would take a step back when thinking about acquiring him or Jason Williams.

If you look at the positive things Davis does, he could be a nice fit for us, but I'd still be reluctant into giving up Head. Davis is shooting 36.8% from three, which would be tied for first place on our team with Battier (not including Novak because he doesn't play at all).

I would deal James, Snyder, and cash considerations to get him.

    The trade works too.

    I like this deal better.

    Successful Trade Scenario
    Congratulations on a successful trade.
Due to Houston and Seattle being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Houston and Seattle had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

    Houston Trade Breakdown
Change in Team Outlook: -5.2 ppg, +7.6 rpg, and +0.2 apg.
    Incoming Players
    Delonte West
    6-4 SG from St. Joseph's

    Kurt Thomas
    6-9 PF / C from Texas Christian
    6.8 ppg, 9.6 rpg, 1.4 apg in 25.5 minutes
    Outgoing Players
    Luther Head
6-3 PG / SG from Illinois
    8.0 ppg, 1.7 rpg, 1.8 apg in 20.3 minutes
    Kirk Snyder
    6-6 SG from Nevada-Reno
    3.8 ppg, 1.3 rpg, 0.9 apg in 9.0 minutes
    Mike James

    7.3 ppg, 1.7 rpg, 1.8 apg in 17.8 minutes

Thomas is a fat expiring contract and so is West who can also feed the post much better than Head.

It would appear that Seattle lacks real pure shooters other than Wally. The trade also works without adding West in which i would still do if we keep Head.

arguing about who should start between Bonzi and Luther is what's wrong with this team.

Still don't have a 2 guard, our 3 has a bum knee and our point guard is avg.

We need Scola, Brooks and Landry to keep developing. Play the rookies. It's still rebuilding time.

While I don't agree it is rebuilding time, I do agree the rookies need to play.

For those naysayers, watch how well the team's offense flows when Bonzi is not in the game versus when he IS in the game.

Or when he is out how much better the team defense is....

Luther may not be the answer but at least he moves and cuts off the ball.

    DD,

I'm not in disagreement with you per se, but you defend Adelman and I think that he's playing Bonzi and that Bonzi must be doing something that Adelman wants to see. In other words, I'm not so sure that your criticisms are necessarily of Bonzi, and that you may instead have a bone to pick with Adelman.

LOL - dude, I have a bone to pick with Adelman...no doubt, he is playing the wrong players, and overplaying his starters....

I would have kept a young aggressive Mike Harris over Bonzi anyway.

And if you notice the thread is directed at Adelman.....

    :D

C'com, de-duh, de-duh, de-"DD", YOU CAN'T FOOL ME!!! :D Bow down to my basketball omnipotence :p (as if!) and cede the fact that your post, though substantively accurate, points too long a finger at Bonzi.

Adelman, for his part, is a system coach who forces his offensive strategy on a roster whether or not it suits the players' collective strengths and abilities. Consequently, Adelman plays the hell out of the players who he thinks can play his style of ball. I think that we can agree that's why our starters play such heavy minutes, and why Bonzi is playing ahead of Luther.

Luther is more fluid on the offensive end, he's just as inept in Adelman's "offense" as Bonzi, who is less of a defensive liability than Luther (because Bonzi doesn't always guard one of the opponents perimeter players). Further, Bonzi does do two things that Luther doesn't, namely rebound the basketball and create mismatches on the offensive end.

I like Luther for his shooting, which is all he's shown himself capable of doing on a consistent basis when given the minutes to show his talents. If we went to an inside-out offense with wing players cutting toward the basket and moving without the ball, then I can make a case for Luther and Bonzi getting more minutes. I have only watched 15 of our games this season, so I am not exactly an expert on this, but as far as I can tell our offense stagnates on the perimeter when T-Mac in the lineup. As long (and assuming) that's the case, you will always (with Adelman as coach) Bonzi gets more minutes than Luther, IMHO.

Sorry if I've misconstrued your post, and made more out of it than was intended.

I have been saying that Adelman overplays his starters since the beginning of the season. People said I was wrong and that it was JVG. LOL. They completely ignored his habit of overplaying the starters of his previoius 3 teams.

I ain't no Adelman hater, but it's so ridiculous to see our starters collapse in the 4th quarter from exhaustion. They can't even make their layups and free throws. The offense collapses, and the turnovers increase.

    found this very ironic
    replace Adelman with JVG
    offense with defense
    flip flop Bonzi and Luther
    and its last year.

It's just a lot of noise from people who think they know something about coaching a basketball team.
