McGrady wasn't really excited about the the New Orleans All-star game to begin with, and he's down on himself for how the season has gone. I think this is about both those things.
Isn't it convenient that once he knows he can't relinquish his spot, he claims that he wants to give it away? If he really wanted to give it to someone more deserving, he could always say he was injured. You know how it is for him. He could just say he went out for a walk and tore something. No one would doubt it. If that were the case, wouldn't the league have to select a replacement all-star?
Does anybody even care about the all-star game anymore? I haven't watched one of those things in years. Random golf tournament > All-Star game
isn't it convenient that you can't start threads cause your a rookie and you can only talk trash here? If he said he was injured then he has to sit for our own games too. The guy clearly knows some people deserve his spot. I think can think of two guards off the top of my mind that deserve both a starter or a bench spot over T-mac (Chris Paul and Brandon Roy). Its been well documented that he doesn't deserve it. He probably feels bad himself. Scuse seriously Clutchfans, is there ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE MAN ADMITTING HE DOESN'T DESERVE TO GO? ffs I would feel guilty too. Quit bagging him just cause you don't like his recent play.
They just have to put some big names in the Slam Dunk Contest, but instead they added a game of Horse for D-League players. Just hope they could add some all stars like the 2000 Slam Dunk Contest...
Actually, I'm classified as a rookie b/c I registered relatively recently. That doesn't really have any bearing on my basketball knowledge. The words he used almost make it seem like he's being forced to go. My point is, if you dont think you deserve to go, then dont go. Actions speak louder than words. I wouldn't mind at all if he sat for the few games preceding the all-star break. Everyone's used to it already, and our schedule doesn't look too tough.
yeh the sixers weren't too tough eh? the sonics? i'm sure we would've beaten them today without tmac sure, why don't we sit out tmac so that he doesn't have to go to the all star game, and make his statement sound more genuine to haters around here.
Well, without tmac, we're playing with a 20 million hole in our roster. if you take away the highest paid player from any team, i'm sure they'd have problems too. if we had any all-star caliber player instead of tmac, do you think we would still have lost those games? I'm not saying adelman should sit tmac to prevent him from going to the all-star game. i'm saying that if he were sincere about wanting to forfeit his spot, its a viable option.
Well when you continually make ambiguous statements that seem to be more what people want to hear than the truth, and can be interpreted in more than one way when compared to your actions...people will continually take sides.
then clearly your knowledge of the all star game is 0. If you sit out of the all star game it means your injured, which he clearly isn't. There is some sort of penalty for missing the All Star game when you aren't injured. If his listed as injured for that game then the league will expect him to miss games. You can't just NOT GO without a legitimate excuse. What do you think this is? a Optional extra class at university? Before you start bagging his comments use your brain.
This is good of him. I had a problem with him playing (and playing big minutes) in the All Star game two years ago when he couldn't make it onto the court for many real games due to his "brokeback" episode and the mysterious personal problems. In fact, that was the turning point for me when it came to supporting the guy. I'm glad to see he is prepared to give up the spot. I won't speculate on his motivation.
