Yes I know you are partial to vets but geez Rudy! Walt has shown us everything he is ever going to show us and it just does not merit a starting position. Oscar on the other hand has similar stats for this season as Walt, but he is rookie that has yet to show us all he can do (wel that one game where he hit so many threes was something else!). From the few games that have been telecast in my area it seems to me that Oscar has a better all around game and is a better defender. If you start Oscar I would bet that he will start having an impact similar to the "Blockmaster". Putting Oscar back on the bench is a step back and at this point we don't need anymore steps in the wrong direction.
Yes, yes...yes !!! OT is the future, Walt is the past. However, Rudy may be showcasing Walt to trade him. DD
DaDakota, Yes IMHO that would be the only reasonable explantion for starting Walt over Oscar. I like the way Oscar attacks the basket. We need that from our frontcourt players.
Walt would be a great bench addition to a good team. He is a very underrated rebounder, can handle the ball, and he can stretch a defense when he is shooting well. I think he and Collier in a package could get us an above average young big man in return.
I don't really see much trade value in a Jason/Walt combo. Collier is unproven to say the least...and while Walt can still light it up, he seems to be aging faster than Hillary Clinton did during 'cigargate'. One truth: You gotta give up something with percieved value in order to get something of value.
Houston trades: First round pick in 2002 Draft to Denver Houston trades: Jason Collier $1,280,040 to Denver Houston trades: Walt Williams $5,000,000 to Denver TOTAL: $6,280,040 Denver trades: Calbert Cheaney $2,400,000 to Houston Denver trades: Raef LaFrentz $3,755,142 to Houston TOTAL: $6,155,142 TRADE ACCEPTED I think a probable lottery pick is fair compensation for Raef considering he is a free agent. Raef would have to agree to an extension with Houston of course.
i don't think there are enough basketballs to keep a starting backcourt lineup of mobley, francis and OT happy
why start Walt at all? He's not a starter with any other team in the league. OT has proven to be an all around better player.
