Mario Elie tonight mentioned that keeping Steve may be hard for the Rockets. I wonder if Steve has told people that he may not be here for the duration. I hope he is happy. DD
I don't remember him saying it may be hard, just that it was important...but maybe I will go back and check the tape to see.
I just watched it and he didn't at all say it would be hard. He said that it was of key importance and that he was pulling for the Rockets to re-sign him and that he hoped Steve would stay in Houston because they are close friends. He didn't sound pessimistic. I actually sat about 5 seats down and one row up from him. He looked like he was having a good time. If you have the game on video tape, look in the background to the left of Mario and you'll see a guy's head. That is the husband of the friend who gave me the tickets. I was sitting 3 seats down from him.
I think we should bring in Mario at the minimum just so he can help convince Steve to stay a la Steve himself with Cuttino. Oh yeah, and he can show the young 'uns how to play tough man d. Steve Cat Mario KT Eddie Not bad... Let's start a campaign to move the Wizards to Vancouver. That'll stop Steve...
I think its going to be 50/50. I mean if you look at the Washington, they do have something to offer to Steve. Going home for 1, a talented 2 in rip, haywood and kwame at the 4 and 5 and a pretty good coach. plus the fact he'll be in the east. We'll see this summer. If his idol/team president calls he will listen to him, lets get that straight. Hopefully our team is progressing faster and the mgmt makes moves that will make this tem a playoff team next yr. If not and the wiz make the playoffs, Jordan will make some good points. I think its between Francis, Davis, or Miller. One of those 3 will be in Washington after next season.
Elie is just stirring the pot...but, there might be some truth to the fact that he is not happy with the rash of injuries, the Rice deal and maybe, just maybe, the crap whole at the post! but, I doubt he (Francis) is orchestrating anything, just smacking between friends
It just seems that Steve may be telling people he is not sure of his future in Houston. Now, the beauty is that we have him essentially locked up for 3 more years. Enough time for Griffin to mature and the Rockets to make a playoff run. DD
Winning cures everything...what player is going to be happy on a team that misses the playoffs continouisly and has had the luck like the Rox (whether his own effort or not)....except Piatkowski or Dampier or Country Reeves or someother just happy to be here or lacking in competitive juices type.... lock and load for three more years....
