RIP Dave- the man behind the Texas Double Cheeseburger. His .99 cent value menu was the best in the business. And he is responsible for the Frosty. :(

Actually, a few years ago Pepsi sold ownership of those three chains to Trico Restaurant Corporation, or something like that. I was working at Pizza Hut at the time. I know it's crap, but I still eat it.

RIP Dave. Your Big Value $0.99 is the bomb. 3 caesar salads and 15 hot nuggets for 6 bucks....cheap and healthy dinner.

    Dave's commercials ruled.

I have a grandma that hates every man in the world but I think Dave Thomas. She seriously has some big grudge with men, but she always talked about how cool and funny and a good guy Dave was (even tho she didn't know him...).

You're going to get Jonathan Thompson in here giving you an entire history of Tricon Global Restaurants and their current ownership of Taco Bell, Pizza Hut and KFC.

Pepsico spun off the restaurant division a few years ago (1997). Their stock symbol is YUM, by the way.

EDIT: I guess this is an echo post at this point.... Read all the way through the threads before posting, mrpaige.

I don't know how many restaurants Dave Thomas owned at the time of his death, but 10 years ago he owned 70% of all Wendy's stores, and the rest were franchises.

He must have been an incredible businessman to run such an organization. Add his charity work, and Dave had a hell of a resume.

This is the kind of guy that kids should look up to instead of sports stars.

I haven't had a fast-food hamburger for almost an entire year, but tomorrow I will go out and get a Texas double cheeseburger in memory of Dave Thomas.
