mattj and wexler was a great duo, loved their rockets post game takes, not much to look forward to now though
Sorry I just got to this folks. Yeah I am back. All is right in the world again. I sat for 6 months and am back in radio! There are so many things that I am pumped about. Clutch having a weekly is absolutely fantastic. Nick Van Exel's hour (2 hours when he has nothing going on) might be the best hoops hour in radio. I have so many things I want to do. I welcome all criticism and praise. But I warn you, we have absolutely no intention of making a regular radio station. This is a fraternity with open invitation. Some folks "get it" and some don't or can't. I have no animosity to the folks that aren't into it. Houston is a big ass city. There are enough people that get it that 1560 can thrive. We are doing things quite differently for sure. I want to involve the people that listen waaaaaay more than traditional radio stations. Perfect example...I threw up a mechanism on the website today so people can listen to the station on there cells. I would love for some folks on this board to help me test it out. Not just test it out but give me feedback on what would work better. Here is the link. Tell me what kind of phone you use and if it works. Also tell me a better way to explain to people how to use it. And if you have any other suggestions on how a local sports station should be run I am all ears. I know, I know...more Rockets talk. Workin' on it. PS - did ya'll see Van Exel's reaction to the cups????
I love Van Exel. Clutchfans need to tune into that. I just wish he was a little more talkative. John and Lance have to pry a lot out of him but the stuff he has to say is great. The Hoffman show is a waste of two hours, imo. Does the guy ever take a call or have a guest? It's 2 hours of him a Raheel (sp) talking about nothing at all. And I've listened many, many times to give the guy a chance but I can't anymore. Good to have you back in radio...your creativity and enthusiasm will be a bonus to that station.
Thanks man. I love Hoffman. It's like a soap opera. It's all good though...like I said, it ain't for everyone! And you nailed the spelling of Raheel's name.
i've got a r****dedly old phone, so of course it doesn't work on mine 1560 is certainly on the right track. it kinda reminds me of 1310. john/lance are goofy but kinda remind me of bob and dan. though they have no donovan. justice could be norm hitzges hoffman and raheel are solid i'm not sold on sean and john yet, though that is who i've listened to the least.
I agree. What makes 1310 great is that they all have great on-air chemistry. I see some of that developing at 1560. I like a station the mixes in a lot of "guy talk" along with sports talk.
That is the question. Will that work? I have taken the philosophy of abandoning labels. We talk mostly sports but there is a bunch of other stuff in there. But the other stuff is not contrived. It's just what is on the minds of the jocks. These guys (Hoffy not as much) live and breathe this stuff so sports is mostly what is on their minds so that is what ends up on air. It is a blast. There is some good stuff coming real soon...
You mean this video??? http://youtube.com/watch?v=YnqBbtfy66k OMG! Maybe the best reaction video I've seen yet, but I'm a NVE fan.
LMAO hilarious! I did some more search: <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Ai4VNxKgOlk&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Ai4VNxKgOlk&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
Hmm. Why is NVE on a talk show in Houston? He never played here. He seems like a good guy, and I woudn't have minded him playing here, but it seems odd that he would do talk radio in Houston.
Practiced here in the off-season with the other ballers and fell in love with Houston, made it his home. He's boys with Granato so voila! NVE on the radio.
I knew he lived here, it just seems odd. I'll give y'all a listen next week. I may even call Granato and bug him about what he thinks about Texas Tech vs. Kansas next year.
Welcome back, Chance. You're just in time to help me out with some tickets. How does the first home playoff game sound? Or, if we don't make it, maybe the home opener for next season? Let's get another bet going for this year's election while we're at it. You name the terms. (Can't believe it's been almost four years since the last one.)
Chance, how's Raheel doing? I hosted a radio show with him for about 2 and a half years here in Austin on KVRX.
Hey, we all have different tastes. I just don't get it. When the show started it seemed like he actually tried. He had unique guests on and everything. Now the only guests I've heard on there are the female reporters of Houston TV (not that that's a bad thing) and nothing else. They take a lot less callers than John/Lance and Justice. The calls seem to drop dramatically for his show. It seems it's mostly Hoffman talking about "Gilligan" (Raheel) about nothing else. Justice's show is much better now that they have John and Lance stay over for an extra hour with him. He's sort of boring by himself, but a good when he's interviewing a guest.
