Lets take a minute away from the seconding coming off the season from hell (first one being the injury plagued 05-06 season) and all the madness to create a top three list of teams we hate as Rockets fans. There are many teams that I hate as a Rockets fans so this is gonna be kind of tough. Possible teams to hate: -Dallas Mavericks: The reasons are obvious to any Rockets fans. Every failure for them is almost as good as a win for the Rockets to me. Reasons to hate them: Finley cheating us out of the Game 5 victory with the help of the refs. Stackhouse being a ******* and going for a uncontested dunk in a game this was over with 18 seconds left, and the have Dirk! -Utah Jazz: Long history between the teams. It was kind of renewed in last year's playoff series. The Karl Malone bearhug cheated us out of a championship! -Seattle Supersonics: Knocked us out of the playoffs on multiple occasions in the 90s, but haven't been much of a threat lately. Portland TrailBlazers: They cheated us out of Brandon Roy. God! Everything I watch them play (I love Roy's game), my hate for them grows even more! We should have a Mac-Ming-Roy combination in Houston right now! Minnesota T-Wolves: They helped Portland cheat us out of Brandon Roy! Morons really screwed us by winning and getting a better record then us and then dealing Roy to Blazers! Phoenix Suns: I just don't like them. They play no defense and ESPN rides for them just as much as they ride for the Celtics! This is a tough decision! But my top 3 has to be: -Dallas Mavericks -Portland TrailBlazers -Utah Jazz My reasons: -I think we were really primed for a run in the 04-05 playoffs. If he had gotten past Dallas, the hot streak that we were on in the second half of the season combined with a huge win against Dallas could have pushed us to atleast a WCF! I just hate Finley! -The Blazers are going to pain for a long time. Roy is only going to get better and to sit there and see him get better every season knowing we were a pick away from having him suit up with Yao and Mac is going to bring many sleepless nights! -I still hate the Jazz because of all the history from the Malone-Stockton era! They stopped us from having a showdown with the Bulls (Hakeem v. Jordan to settle the score once and for all!), but lately I can't really garner as much hate as I use to have for them. The hate only comes back when I watch videos of Stockton's shot on Youtube or see Malone in a Jazz jersey! But I love Boozer's high-arc shot and Williams' game so I can't really hate them as much nowadays!
I really hope that this season doesn't turn out to be another 05-06 one! If we are going to play this inconsistent and miss the playoffs, then I say **** it! Rest T-Mac and Yao as much as you can! Let them play along with AB and Landry and Scola then shoot for a top 3 pick! That way we can either get someone really good or trade that for some real good help!
Or how about another 1977-78, or 1986-87 one? The Lakers were always a team I loved to hate so much, certainly during their showtime years, but now, there's Dallas and San Antonio. Actually, I can't stand seeing the Rockets not fighting with those two other Texas teams for the homecourt advantage every season when they both got to being among the best teams in the league.
Since I don't live in Texas, I really can't hate the Spurs. They don't play the most exciting basketball there, but you can't hate Duncan's game. Its just so smooth! And they really haven't done anything disrespectful to the Rockets like the Mavs! But I guess I should have added an option with them, the Mavs, and the Suns since they are always winning! LOL! I know. They ****ed us real good twice this season!
You've been on the forum long enough to know the Blazers and T-Wolves have no business on your lists and the Spurs belong there. This season, I'm a huge Blazers fan because of Sarge and Brandon Roy. Based on what people here regularly post, the list should include the Spurs, Mavs, Lakers, Jazz and (maybe) Suns.
The Jazz -- no word needed The Mavs -- I can't stand anyone involved with that team from their owner to the coach to that "MVP" of theirs The Lakers -- "look look we are No. 1"...damn those Laker fans
If you are a Rockets fan, then you have to hate the Blazer as you watch Brandon Roy develop into the talented player he has in only his SECOND SEASON! That was supposed to be our player! That was supposed to be our prize for enduring a season of crap and cheering for Luther Head! Believe me, I love basketball and the Blazers are fun to watch, but it pains me greatly every time I see him score effortlessly or make an amazing pass. That was supposed to be the Rockets PG! And as far as the Spurs go, I forgot them because I really haven't ran into a Spurs fan. I think the have a good organization and a great player that is a true gentleman. How do you hate the Spurs? I know they have been winning a lot lately, but still you have to respect them. Maybe the Spurs fans are rowdy, but in Los Angeles, I don't really meet any Spurs fans so I can't garner any hate for them.
Jazz, Mavs, Lakers... In fact, that is EXACTLY my choice. I was a little surprised you had that exact selection on there. Heat are also up there.
Umm..just because the Blazers are better and that they'll be a pain to us in a few years, doesn't mean we should hate them? I personally like the Suns so i won't choose that one. I have to go with... Dallas Mavericks, Utah Jazz, Los Angeles Lakers ^^ In order too, yes i hate Dallas the most.
Three teams have knocked the ROX out of the playoffs since I became a Rockets fan: the Jazz, who are dirty cheaters and will be the most hated for all time the Lakers, who put the cap of the Chuckster's last run, which also led to the horrendous Snottie Quitten blowup the Mavs, who took advantage of the ROX having to play Ryan Bowen as a starter because Juwan Howard had a bum ticker I don't hate teams because they drafted a player the ROX were looking at or for stuff that happened before my time (like the Sonics dominance of the Hakeem led ROX). The Jazz and Mavs cheated the ROX out of the playoffs and the Lakers are centered around a dirty, arrogant rapist.
Than please explain to me the hate for the Lakers. Even before the Kobe incident, many people hated the Lakers for precisely that reason.
Classic moment from Game 7 of that series that I remember is Chuck grabbing the kid that sweeps the floor by the neck and yelling at him to sweep the floor in the 4th quarter after he slipped and they called a traveling violation on him. That play costs us big in a crucial moment.
