note: This speech took place BEFORE the "truce". Personally as a conservative, I am thoroughly amused by the level and intensity of criticism by the Dem camps in January, makes you wonder what they'll do to top this in the general election.

I guess some people will believe anything, even though the story about Obama really being a Muslim has been debunked so many times it's crazy. I figure if people want to believe something they will.

But, since you are able to judge what's in a person's heart, please let us know what all the candidates really believe.

Look I have no problem with Obama as the VP but imo he would be overwhelmed and we all know how the last 7+ years have gone with someone who is not ready to be the CEO of the United States

What do you base that on? Keep in mind, historically, there's no correlation between experience and success as President. A President just doesn't administrate a government - they make very broad policy/personnel decisions and people underneath them do all the administration. Bush's mistake was getting very powerful advisors who often had their own agendas, and being unable to moderate/control them. Do you see potentially something in Obama that suggests a similar problem (serious question)?

As Mr. McCain would say "my friends this is a pivital time in our history" so I want someone with a proven record (not just a great stump speach) running the show.

No matter who we elect good will to America will go up but the key is having someone in place who not only has a "vision" but who is ready to make decisions on day one. I'm sure the enemies this country has around the world are thinking up plans to cause problems the second someone else takes office and I don't want to leave it to chance.

Mr. Obama lost me during that debate when he said the most important thing is a "vision" George Bush had a "vision" and let his advisors and defense sec run this country's image into the ground. I need someone who will be "hands on"

If Obama gets the nomination and is elected I will hope he does a great job I never root for failure because I think my idea is better.

Fair enough - I think that's a legitimate concern. I come down on the other side in that I feel like that small risk of a bit of upheaval early on is more than made up for by the potential benefits of having a leader who can actually form consensus. My suspicion with Hillary is that she'll try to push through unreasonable proposals that will get filibustered and killed by an obstructionist Republican Congress, and 4 years from now, we'd be having the same debates about needing to improve health care and what not. I get the sense that for her, winning is more important than governing.

we need gridlock to control spending so as long as she makes the right calls in forign policy I have little to no issues.

    OUR DOLLAR IS NOTHING

THIS SITUATION=ENRON STOCK, IT'S FALLING BECAUSE NOTHING IS THERE, SHORT TERM BENIFITS WERE PUT IN PLACE WITHOUT THINKING LONG TERM

My guess is the opposite would happen. Hillary has learned a lot from her health care debacle and in the Senate has proven to be fairly moderate and has worked across the aisle on various issues. Knowing how polarizing she is my guess is as President she would more likely to be cautious and moderate in her approach as both Republicans and more liberal Democrats will be looking for something controversial to confront her on.

Obama on the other hand while having great charisma that charisma doesn't necessarily translate over to winning over the 49 Republicans in the Senate. Although he speaks of moderation his views and platform is more liberal than Clinton and his lack of experience will likely cause him to try something more ambitious that will be challenged by the Republicans.

As I said before the comparison between Obama and JFK is apt and I suspect if he wins his first years in office will be similar to JFK's in that he will propose ambitious and grandiose goals but get almost nothing legislatively accomplished.

I think Hillary will be as moderate as she has been in the Senate, but that she herself will still be polarizing. Obama, however, does have a history of working with opponents and building consensus from his days in Illinois.

Nothing in her history really suggests this. She may very well try to compromise some, but from Day #1, the GOP will be fighting her tooth and nail. She's an easy target to demonize.

Nothing in his history really suggests this either. If anything, the growing number of red-state & blue-state Senate colleagues & governors that are endorsing Obama suggests exactly the opposite. The people that have worked most closely with Obama & Clinton as well as the people who's own races will be affected by having Obama on the ticket believe that he's the guy who'd be most effective.

It takes a lot for Senators to endorse an underdog, and it takes even more for them to risk offending the a powerhouse like the Clintons should Hillary win. These endorsements won't have much impact on the race, but it does give you a lot of insight in what the people that work with them think.

From my friend in Chicago that I've quoted before, Obama's idea of "working with opponents and building consensus" meant supporting both personal welfare and corporate welfare, all while spending the State to near bankruptcy. (Kinda like another President that I've heard of.) Promising everything to everyone (except Astronauts, of course) isn't exactly the best way to reach across the aisle in my mind. That being said, my gut tells me that Obama will be less neoconservative than Clinton (willingness to invade Pakistan notwithstanding), so I would expect military spending to drop at least somewhat during an Obama administration.

I got this link in an email from a friend. Don't know how valid it is but the writer is a conservative journalist who works for the Washington Times. Does anybody have any more in depth info about Obama's background. He's is really scary if much of this article is true. The deal about Kenya is bad news because I have traveled there and the last thing that country needs is an Islamic government. It is one of the last Christian led countries in that region.

The campaign of Senator Barack Obama of Illinois, 46, is preparing a fact sheet to rebut an e-mail campaign falsely alleging that he is a Muslim.
