After the Sixers game Shane Battier gave some interesting quotes.
    Here they are:

"We haven't played well," Rockets forward Shane Battier said. "We haven't played well enough to be upset at ourselves. Everyone talks about potential. Well, the season is halfway over. Potential is over. We need to play basketball. We need to play well. If we don't, it's going to be a long second half to the season."

They're not blind, they see they're not playing well, everybody can see it.
Tbat's the way it is, I HOPE team can get out of crysis and play like it SHOULD play.

I wonder if he is speaking out now cause he finally had a game where he contributed something on the offensive end.

Doubt it, but I do agree he lacks offensive production.
He just needs to take more shots, he's worth of it.

I think Shane speaking out is a real turning point. You know, like the other 12 times this season when a player has spoken out about how we're not playing well and things need to change, blah blah blah...

The truth may be that we have already reached our potential with this squad.

He needs to shut up and quit putting up those 2-9 shooting nights. Loser.

He should admit that CD/JVG screwed up by trading Gay/Stro for Battier.

Who would know that 8th pick Rudy Gay would play so good?

    Rockets just couldn't risk it.

Battier has been a disappointment so far. I thought he would be our 3rd scorer and contributor. So far, he is just a role player and playing his role.
With his talent and skill, he could have done better and score more.

He's just saying what the media expects him to say. It looks like some reporter asked him about why the rockets potential hasn't taken off. Some of you guys are taking his quote out of context. He wasn't saying he was the only one producing, but the team as a whole hasn't been playing well. What else do you expect players to say when their team isn't doing well?

"Well, we're trying our best but our best just sucks. See you at the lottery!"

Battier is wrong. Tons of people here said we have until the All Star Break. Battier, you and your teammates can screw up until the All Star Break and then instantly turn it around.

It's hard to believe how eloquently Shane speaks at times. I can really see this guy running for president one day. At least one Rocket on this squad will be successful. ;)

Nice words but there have been many similar comments like this. I agree Battier is 'just' doing his job, which is defense all around and score a little. He has to get more points or else i suggest when McGrady's back he will be replaced at SF and maybe Francis/ Brooks can start along with Rafer.
Then Battier can play 15-20 mins a game just to play defence, that might be even good because we don't have many great defence players like Battier.

Reporter - "President Shane, briefly explain the situation on Iraq."
Shane - "We haven't played well. We haven't played well enough to be upset at ourselves. Everyone talks about our nu~clear potential. Well, the war is halfway over (2017). Nu~clear potential is over. We need to play basketball, err warfare. We need to play well. If we don't, it's going to be a long second half to the war."

He was highly thought of, and no one would have blamed the organization for keeping him. The Battier trade has never been popular, and it becomes even less popular by the day. The Rockets screwed it up, period.

If Gay would have been taken, then this would have been his first season on the court. He would have ridden the pine under Van Gundy and would have been fluent in Greek by the end of the season.
