It depends on which TMac that comes back. The one with good %FG, drive fearlessly and play with fire, then we are going to be very good. If the TMac that comes back, start jacking shots and missing tons of them or the one that walks up court in a relax manner then we will be not be better.

Yep. We don't need the Tmac looking a his offense first half then expect everyone to score when he's cold in the 2nd, we don't need the Tmac taking consecutive shots with 20 sec on the clock and we don't need the Tmac who laughing when the opponent just chopped off our heads. But we do need the Tmac playing with balance attack: scoring and assisting. We do need the Tmac getting everyone involves when double team rather than forcing it. And we do need the Tmac who spend more time on the floor than being a drama queen. ;)

The question of whether the team needs Tmac is up in the air only in a sense that you might get back players that fit better than Tmac...

That being said....I think it is clear you need Tmac.

McGrady needs to be The Dagger. Honestly, I think this bunch can sustain and play really well--through 3 quarters. Let the others and Yao carry the load for that duration. After that, they just simply run out of gas so McGrady needs to be the player that closes out games for us.

How many games has Tmac closed out recently and not so recently?

It's not that we need Mcgrady, it's that we need the second goto guy that can create his own shot, and I'd rather have another star then Mcgrady. Mcgrady eats up 20 mil in the cap, so it's not Mcgrady or nothing, you can get some decent players, or maybe another star, via trade :D

Gah, do we really need another "What can you get for McGrady" thread? The board's only had about two dozen over the last week. The popular consensus from what I remember was Mike Miller or Andre Miller (PG's) plus supporting cast.

Yup. TMac isn't the second coming of MJ. He can't single handedly turn around the franchise. He's a streaky scorer who needs the ball in his hands to be effective. That kind of help won't put us over the top; in fact, it will likely not be enough to get us into the playoffs.

I'll requote this in a few months when we secure an playoff seed thanks to TMac coming in and helping Yao out

rockets' record of last season wasn't alot better than this season's, they still have a good chance to come back provided they play in that right way. And dont know why i just feel like some teams which look good right now will suck in the second half of the season. just play hard and right, rockets will be back in the competition.

    Summarize all the opinions:

The best way for Rocket to win in a decent way is

Bench TMac for first three quaters and let him demonstrate his worth of $20m in last.[/SIZE]

After 41 games, we were 25-16. That's a pretty big difference in my book.
