Would anyone do a Scola, Snyder, Wells plus a first round pick for Artest? Artest would bring rebounding, toughness, outside shooting and a wing prescence in case Tmac has continuing problems. Scola and a first are tough to give up but you have to give something to get something. I don't know if this would be enough to get Sac to bite, but I think it might get their attention. Yao/Deke Battier/Hayes/Landry Artest/Tmac/Battier/Novak Tmac/Brooks/SF Alston/Brooks/MJ I think could give us a very flexible line up that can play D as well as score.
You got a point there but i think after this year tmac will quit on his own so just let him stay for this year. Maybe T-mac can be a co-captain (like Thorpe) and take the team on his and Yao's shoulders and really do this. If the Rockets want a championship this year McGrady's got to change his attitude and give a 100% everytime or like you said get traded. Now that you mention it, i hope they don't. After 95-96 it went down the hill because of all the new guys being traded for veterans. Trading Cassell, Horry and 2 others for Barkley is and was the 2nd worst in Rockets history. The worst was Thorpe for Drexler, even though they went back-to-back. After Barkley came, Willis came and all these other old messes and really started working on a new team since Yao. I feel a championship is in the making if the management and coaching staff make the right decisions and keep the young players, maybe even acquire some more upcoming talents. It worked with Olajuwon, so it should work now. Since 1988 the Rockets started working around Olajuwon with acquiring Sleepy, Thorpe, Larry Smith and since 1990 with Maxwell (2nd year), Kenny (3rd year), Horry (rookie), Cassell (rookie) and some players with experience like Scott Brooks, Bullard and Elie to round it off and win championships. This new team has some really great rookies who imo can start new year, even this year given the chance, and work around Yao. They all need to work hard and we will have a championship in a few years if it all works out. So hopefully no stupid trades.
The player that would be PERFECT for this team is *drumroll*.....Derek Fisher. Hatred aside, he brings everything that this team lacks/needs 1. Consistent shooting: The guy's shooting is as consistent as you can have on a nightly basis. His 3 point shot is money. 2. Ball handling: His assists numbers aren't good but he takes care of the ball and can run a fast break better than most starting point guards. 3. Defense: Although older and slower, he can still defend most point guards in the league. He's big enough that a Deron Williams or a Billups can't really overpower him and he can keep up with everyone else 4. Clutch: Dude's killed us in the past when he was with the Lakers then the Jazz...if you can't beat them, trade for them 5. Toughness. Of course there's no way in hell the Lakers are going to give him up and there's no way in hell he would come here due to his daughter's condition, but Derek Fisher would be the type of player that lights a fire under everyone's (McGrady included) ass.
Why don't we just get KG at power forward, Lebron at SF, and Nash at PG. Problem solved. I love these threads.
Daniel Gibson is a good option too at PG, he's been stepping up in the playoffs last year and is very consistent in his three point shots + the Cavs are not having a great season + he's not a guaranteed starter so we can make it happen i think. http://games.espn.go.com/nba/featur...901~138~497&teams=12~12~12~12~10~10&te=&cash= This would be a great trade. Check it out !!
true dat.. i'm already looking towards next season... making the playoffs would be icing on the cake at this point... we'll definitely be better next year... (i wouldn't eat the cake)
