I hear what you're saying about mid-range shooting, but Sam is one of the best in the business at it when healthy. He is an amazing player when his old bones hold up. He isn't fast, particularly quick and has no hops. Yet somehow he is elusive. While he can't elevate, nobody can hit contested mid-range shots like Sam.
I know. I love Sam I Am too. But you cant find another Sam I Am. Sam I Am's game is so fundmentally sound, so simple but efficient. I always want Sam I Am on my team.
Sam WAS an all star, etc. but you are right his confidence is always there whereas our guards stop doing anything but pounding it to yao or watching t-mac when the game gets close, even that they couldn't do today as they turned it over 4 times in the 4th trying to force feed yao
Rafer has a history! He has always had great difficulty in passing into Yao Ming! Head is not a passer! Both should be on the bench in the 4th qtr.
Proven by www.82games.com that our current worst position by PER is PG (Alston) who also gives up the opponents best PER. http://www.82games.com/0708/0708HOU5.HTM
Barring a favorable trade, when McGrady comes back we'll have a starting backcourt of Alston and T-Mac. Then we'll probably see the following backcourt combinations: Brooks / T-Mac Alston / Brooks Brooks / Bonzi Head / T-Mac Brooks / Head (and hopefully not too much of) Alston / Head We could use a better PG and a taller sharpshooting backup SG, but this rotation shouldn't be too bad. That is, as long as Alston and Bonzi plays up to their capabilities and Head gets limited but effective minutes.
