Yup same here. Not that I think Rafer is great or anything but Luther makes me want to put my fist through the wall.

You could include Luther if you wanted but we all know he is filling Tmac's spot and at times is doing okay. But we all know he is inadequate long term and shouldn't be getting 4th quarter or long minutes. The Problem is Rafer stinks too and he ain't going nowhere.

Rafer seems to have more confidence since his teardrops are actually going in. But I'm not so sure that's a good thing. over-confidence makes him take early jumpers on a fast break, wreckless drives to try and get his teardrop percentage up, etc. However, Rafer is the best option PG for the Rockets right now because he can do a bit of everything (drive, pass, shoot)...not great by all means, but he'll get by.

Luther, though, is a different story. He can shoot. He can't dribble, he doesn't know when to pass to Yao. There were a few posessions in the fourth when Yao had his man behind him. Luther had the ball and just STARED at him, then he swung the ball to other side. Yao is fighting hard to get in front of his defender, and when he finally does, Luther swings it so Yao can expand more energy running across the lane and re-attempting to seal off his defender? Luther has done this too many teams, not only this season...but last season as well.

Luther needs to be added to the Mike James/Snyder/Novak/more package for a trade.

When the Rockets play a backup point guard Alston and a tweener 12 man undersized shooting guard Head as their back court, it's hopeless.

Also, both Alston and Head are below average finishers around the basket.

Luther Head is a bad player. He shouldn't be getting any mins much less starting for this team. He doesn't have enough size, strength, or quickness, he's horrible on defense, low bball iq, no handles, can't make entry passes, and is a poor finisher. Only thing he's good for is the 3. Nothing else. Nothing.

yeah you don't need to watch the game when you see that head took that many shots and MISSSED would spell a digusting loss! I guess I'm being too hard on head - he had a good fist half when he drove the lane frequently. i blame the coach for playing him for 40 minutes when his shots were not falling and he wasn't driving nor defending.

Completely agree. Even when Head is making his shots, he's a small plus because of all his turnovers and horrible plays. When he isn't making his shots, he's a HUGE minus. Alston is too streaky to be counted on.

I don't mind Luther that much. I mean, obviously you don't want him handling the ball. I think what's death for our offense is the trifecta of Alston, Head, and Battier.

As much as I bash Luther he does have some good qualities. He's a great shooter, young, good cutter, and he has the Coach's trust. He may be developed into a good 8th man later in his career. I realy wish he learn how to pass, think and dribble though

absolutely - shane for some reason never looks for his own shots unless he's specifically told to - I like him very much as a player and a person, but come on you are a pro player and you should play to win rather than just to play your role.

same here - I put the blame on the coach. when head's shots are not falling pull him right away, instead of seeing him turning the ball over, and over, and missing more shots, and giving rebounds away.

I was watching Sam Cassell playing the Suns and hitting one midrange jumper after another. Nothing but net. They can't seem to stop him (the Suns have damn good guards, needless to say) and the guy's playing on one leg and is about 100 years old. Our guards seem helpless against the opposition in comparison.

Sam is amazing. 15/20 tonight and the Suns can't stop him. Too bad his body won't hold up.

I am watching the same game (suns vs clippers). It's not amazing, that's the way it should be. hit the open mid-range jumpers. stop and pop.

but the Rockets except T-Mac and Scola, just dont have mid-range game. I heard so many people say Luther Head is the best shooter in the Rockets, WTF!? Head's best bet is a spot up 3. Other things, Head's horrible.

that's all that yao needs in a guard - pop up and make the mid-range jumper, or drive the lane when yao is fronted. when i was watching the rox-jazz series last year, i couldn't help but thinking if yao were on the jazz team they'd have easily won it all that year and many years to come with just d-will and yao, and matt harping.

Sam is a all star, A champion,A Big shot maker even as a rookie. We want the world and we have rafer alston and luther head as our back court. We can't expect the world and we have scrubs. Sam also was tough and could eat nails.
