http://www.gamespot.com/news/6184695.html?action=convert&om_clk=latestnews&tag=latestnews;title;0 Wow that sucks. Thank God people have not been waiting for the title to get a Wii. Can't imagine them delaying the game again after this. Oh well, it'll be worth it.
lol it's only one month. if they had said 3 months or 6 you could begin to freak out. it's only delayed 1 week in japan.
" the greatest rapper of all time, died on march 9th!" does this mean that the wal-mart orders can be canceled?
Well the game was supposed to come out in early december so the additional month just makes the situation really annoying.
you'll be thanking them once the game is released. I followed "project ego" 1 year before the xbox came out and was supposed to be a launch title to 2 years later when it actually came out as fable. 3 months isn't anything. ever heard of blizzard? they delay games years at a time. there's a reason they haven't released a bad one yet. hell...starcraft ghost apparently wasn't working for them so they just cancelled it completely.
I remember being hyped about the game. IIRC, they dropped a lot of features during development too, so along with the 2+ year delay (or whatever), the game ended up failing to live up to the promises so to speak. I don't particularly mind the delays themselves (kind of wish some more games were delayed), but I wish more devs (or perhaps publishers to be more specific) wouldn't commit to a date until they're sure they can hit it (doesn't have to be an exact day or month either). MGS4, GTA4, Assassin's Creed, Haze, Mercenaries 2, LBP, etc., have all had rather lengthy delays past their original release dates, most of which were given far in advance IIRC. How long was GTA4 even in development when they said it would be released in October 2007? LBP hasn't even reached alpha-state, but they were giving detailed release plans almost a year ago. I'd rather devs just refuse to commit to an exact date early on, and then give a more accurate release frame as they near completion of the game. This isn't exactly a new problem I guess, although I've noticed it seems to have spread to developers that usually don't miss their release dates (don't recall a MGS or GTA being delayed for that long in recent memory, although I might be wrong). Guess the new consoles are more difficult that anyone could have imagined, especially for developers that have needed to work on multiple platforms.
that's the thing with peter molyneux's games -- he likes to mention ALL the things he wants to do...about half of those features actually make it into the game. with that said, I loved fable...it wasn't everything it was supposed to be, but it was a very good game (one of my personal favs). I agree with you, I don't like dates unless they're solid. I hate hearing "when it's done", but it's usually for the best...unless it's someone like 3d realms telling you "when it's done". matter of fact, they were recently asked about duke nukem forever, that's the same date they're still giving. sad.
Thats the first thought that came to my mind when I read it last night. But I do hope their adding more characters or some kind of twist to the game.
the truth is, development times for video games are increasing exponentially with every new generation of hardware. naturally this also results in the games becoming more and more expensive, which is why you see the newest generation of console games at a higher price point (the wii being the exception). coincedently, this is also the reason companies like valve are exploring episodic content with gradual progressions in technology rather than full fledged games on new engines.
for what its worth. In japan the game got a perfect score. http://www.gamesarefun.com/news.php?newsid=8552 maybe its not a perfect game, but still shows that the game is looking to be awesome...if there was any doubt
yeah, i read that too, about the perfect scores... http://blog.wired.com/games/2008/01/smash-bros-gets.html per the article;
Should be well worth the wait. I'm impressed at the amount of nostalgia that has been released already and can't imagine how many more goodies are waiting to be discovered. I just wish they would release more of the ingame music on the site to tide me over until then.
