What about the notion of replacing Chuck Hayes with Scola as a starter? It's an interesting discussion piece, because in the back of my mind i wouldn't mind Scola starting but I also regard Hayes as an important piece to the starting 5. Movie Twist: The Village, if anyone was awake to realize the twist
can we ask non rocket related, but clutchfans related questions? dallas fans are newbs, and love dirk. trust me, i know, i lived there for the past 10 years.
I don't think it matters who starts at the PF. Hayes can start, and Scola can still get more minutes and finish games depending on their play. Kinda like how Manu comes off the bench for the Spurs. If the strategy of teams doubling Yao and while leaving Hayes open comes up, you can always insert Scola to counter.
Heard David mentioned my post. So cool. I've been listening to 1560thegame since I knew Clutch joined. Enjoyed it. OK, my question is: if TMac really come back and commit to the new system, then I would expect a senario: in the playoff we'll have the same lineup like last year, with a different minded coach, face a tougher opponent ( cause we'll very likely finish worse than last year ). Then --- another first round exit. Do you also see the same? Or who do you think will eventually step up as the 3rd scorer which we have waited for 4 years?
Here's my suggestion about the question as to who might be an upgrade over Tracy... might be a bit crazy... Ron Artest. Artest, Battier, and Hayes would make life miserable for opposing players on D.
Fight Club? It would be interesting to see how Rip Hamilton or Ray Allen would fit in with this team. But I still think T-mac is our best option at the moment. One other thing to note this year, the west is very competitive, but it looks wide open, that is there's no one dominant team. Spurs are aging (duncun isn't getting younger), and Dallas and Phoenix show signs of not being as dominant, NO and Portland is young, the Lakers are out of no where, and can anyone really take Denver seriously?
Here's my suggestion about the question as to who might be an upgrade over Tracy...a package of Chancy and Maxiell. But I still wouldn't give up on T-Mac just yet.
Can't call in, but I wanted to ask a question. What are you guys thoughts on Steve Francis? Does he still have a chance to help this team out, or with the recent emergance of Brooks and solid shooting from Head, is he done for the season?
Questions: Is Mike Miller in Memphis being shopped? Do you think our expiring contracts of Snyder, Bonzi and Francis would be of interest to anyone, can that package and a pick get us something in return? Thanks
Movie Plot: Go Scola > Varejao (and not even close) Scola has a jumpshot and you can actually put him in the post Varejao has none of that, just an energy guy that creates chaos for the Cavs c'mon Fred and David...
Wow, Kobe better than MJ? What is that caller smoking on and can I get some? Talk about a wake-n-bake......
I had forgotten the show was this morning, but I just happened to come across it when I was making a Starbucks run this morning. Very cool to hear Clutch and CF.net representing!
First time listener to the show and to the station itself. I am now a fan of the show. Very entertaining and I will now tune in every week when I'm slacking off at work. Thanks for answering my question and commenting on MJ. Another case I wanted to make for MJ being the greatest is that he won 6 titles without a dominant big man in an era with Great Centers.
Yeah, you are saying the name right. Here's one last question, I promise. What happens if the Rockets never traded for T-Mac and went with Francis and Yao?
This is probably the worst of schadenfreude... but I chuckled when Clutch admitted that although he's wanted Rafer on another team for a couple of years, he now kinda worries about how the team would do if Rafer does get traded. I agree with your take on Bibby, though... after going through both James' and Francis' apparent declines, I'm not really willing to trust that a guy with plenty of mileage will comeback from subpar-year or injury good as new.
That probably didn't come out right, but that's close. I think Rafer is a bad fit with the Yao-T-Mac setup we've seen so far -- especially under Van Gundy -- but he has played very well sans T-Mac for the last 5-10 or so. So if you're trading T-Mac and continuing this style without McGrady, I would look for a different kind of player who impacts the box score in other ways when he's not scoring. Ron Artest would qualify, but he's also psychotic and can opt out of his deal. Bibby is an upgrade over Rafer, but given his decline in play last year, is it enough of an upgrade to now carry Bibby, Rafer, Brooks, James, Francis and Head? Remember: You're not going to be able to easily move Rafer, James or Francis. I wouldn't trade T-Mac for a point guard unless it was a huge upgrade or you were also moving a point or two out in the process. As for Rafer, he's been great for a while now and this has been for a longer stretch than any of his failed "Rafer has turned the corner" stints the past two years, but there's still some skepticism on my part -- simply because it's always proven to be justified. Still, this does look promising and hopefully he'll continue to prove me wrong. While I think a lot of eyes will be on T-Mac when he returns, they should also be on Rafer.
It won't take long to notice, if Rafer brings the ball up and defers by passing to Tmac at the top of the key too often it will become obvious. The team has to play like it is now....everyone moving & touching the ball. TMac can really make this team better or worse....if the team caves into his way of playing...where Tmac gets the ball in his hands every possession and the players watch.....then I will be all for trading him. If however, he comes back and joins in on the fun.....the team should reach greater heights. DD
Anyone have a link to the clip? It doesn't seem to be up on the site yet. Last time, someone posted another place to listen to it. Clutch, you ought to get them to post the clip quickly, even though I know they think that will reduce listenership, but in fact, it'll do the opposite. Guys will get hooked listening, then eventually listen live. And, if they include the advertizing on the clip, they can sell that advantage of that to advertisers, even though I'd prefer the clip without advertising ... And, if they don't do that, it'd be great to have it posted here. That will also get them additional listenership and affinity with member of this site.
