http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/hollinger/powerranking If T-Mac comes back from injury with a new attitude then the sky is the limit for the Rockets. Suddenly we jump to #8. It seems those guys are changing fast. Oh wait a second. We were #8 in his ranking last time too? Anyway, people are jumping to Rox Wagon now!
A lot of us never left...... You could see the chemistry coming, and as I have said numerous times, add a healthy motivated Tmac to the group and we are RIGHT there baby ! DD
For those who are *still* unfamiliar with Hollinger's rankings, those comments are NOT Hollinger's comments. They are user-submitted comments. Heck, I've even seen one of my own comments appear on there in the past couple of days.
That's not Hollinger's insight, rather, an ordinary Rockets fan like yourself. As for the ranking, he's kept Rockets hovering at 8 and 9 for a while now. Beat NO and then only will I take this team seriously. NY, ORL, WAS, and MIN won't cut it for me.
Well it's a pretty good ranking. San Antonio has lost to some sucky teams and despite our record, we have played very well against top competition so far. Basically Hollinger's ranking says that our body of work so far - strength of schedule etc. is more impressive than San Antonio's. Actually San Antonio was ahead of Houston before they got blown out by Detroit (we did go 1-1 against both teams).
The limitation is that its based purely on information from this season. It doesn't know that San Antonio limits the minutes of its best players and regularly coast during the early part of the season. I believe New York played them pretty closely in San Antonio the other day. Clearly, they aren't playing at a championship level yet.
I cant really take it seriously either with UTAH AT NUMBER 4?!?! WTF... i agree with detroit 1 and boston 2 but thats about it..
Seriously, when I said we would win 7 of our next 9 and finish 10 games over .500 by all-star weekend people were calling me loony. Guess what, we've won 7 of our past 9 and we're going to be 31-21 by the all-star break.
His rankings factor in recent performance more heavily than overall. So the fact that we're winning and winning big with the strength of schedule perspective is why we're number 8. I like those rankings as it is a more complex way to put every team on a level playing field that only comes after 82 games have been played. The fact that we're number eight means we've been about the eighth best team in the league over the last 10 games. In those formulas, the fact that we played the Celtics on the road and only lost by 4 actually probably helped us. Now, tomorrow is the true test!
Yes, scheduele has been favorable but Rockets are playing great, I'd love to see them winning 7-10 in a row.
op just so rox fan, maybe it's hard to find out any good article about rox haha, and maybe the comment was put by himself
