I think MJ's time in Minnesota really put him down. Like he said, the stuff in Minnesota was "a humbling experience" and IMO it affected his confidence. Add in age and maybe a shooting slump right now...I feel bad for him
LOL MJ put up more shots than Yao! In much less time! I keep saying it: the last time he was on the Rockets, Mike James put up more shots per minute than Yao Ming. That ain't right.
I don't like him since the first game he played for Rockets. He only cares about money, no heart, no professionalism, whatsoever.
unfortunately we are stuck with his big fat contract for awhile unless we package him up with one of our really good players for a trade to someone else. And..unfortunately, I'd say we'd have to either give up Brooks or Landry in a package to trade him.
Cavs still need another point guard and their PF stock is down. Varejao is out with a knee and achilles injury. Marshall's got an infected finger just as he was about to comeback after being out for a couple of months. James+Landry for Marshall? That'd be a salary dump. Marshall's contract is one year less than James's.
I agree, his knees look worn. He used to get so many buckets solely on his quickness and ability to get to the rim which in turn helped his jumpers because he was getting the easy buckets first. He no long beats anybody off the dribble, cant stay with other younger faster guards and worst of all his jumper is broke. Mike James what are you good for? Absolutely Nothing.
We signed this guy for 5.6 million for this season and then 6.0 million next season with a player option of 6.4 million the season after that. Can we say total waste of money??? How you gonna trade him?
I did, when everyone hailed the trade for MJ for Juwon Howard I said that it wouldn't solved out problem at the pg. It was when we got Francis that I felt more convinced we had tackled the issue. I've never been impressed with the guy.
I was never in favor of bringing back James...why do we insist on bringing back old Rockets? It's like we're trying to correct our original mistakes, but when we bring them back, they are damaged goods, and older...like Francis...let's look towards the future. Say no to ex-rockets.
I could've forgiven his horrible shooting if he had at least shown signs of actually being a team player and executing the offense. But it was the same thing all over again -- he bogged down the offense and looked like the word "pass" didn't exist in his vocabulary. On one sequence, he got the ball, pounded it for a few seconds, then as the clock was running out, dribbled into a double team and fired off a horrible contested shot. This guy isn't even worth garbage time right now. I wanted to cut Clyde Drexler's head off for suggesting that he would be getting major minutes by season's end.
Worst trade of the summer, IMO. Of course it wasn't apparent back then, but subtracting Howard's veteran leadership and adding Mike James' low-IQ ballhogging is probably *the* reason why we're out of the playoff picture right now.
With Scola we really don't have much need for Howard to be honest. He was a good leader, but I think Shane has filled that role nicely. With Howard, we'd have been crowded at the 4, so it wasn't a bad trade in hindsight. You'd have never seen Landry's performance tonight that's for sure.
Actually what the Rockets need is a Backup Center. After this year Mutumbo is gone so who backs up Yao besides Scola?
he will contribute later in the year--he can play. So what he looked bad tonight, so what? That does not mean he is done with the rockets or done in his career. He might not be a great player, but he is a good player.
