IMHO. Why else would the Rockets sign a PG out of the CBA? I know they would not trade Francis. So it must be Drew. http://espn.go.com/nba/clubhouses/hou.html The Rockets signed Moochie Norris to a 10 day contract. I think this means some trade for Drew is in the works. Perhaps Rudy is being overly cautious with Stevie in order to showcase Drew. DaDakota
Exactly...it's just a 10 day contract. This way they don't have to rush Francis back and can get Drew a breather. I guess Hakeem should be worried that Devin Gray is hanging around. Old School
Nope, Francis is back tonight. DaDakota may be right- Drew may be in line to be traded. Why else would Houston sign a third point guard?
I think DaDakota is correct. In fact that is what I said when the game came on and Francis was announced in the lineup. My friends think I'm wrong... we'll see. ------------------ The truth is out there.
Elementary, my dear fans. Until Steve's comeback is a done deal, Rudy's just taken out a bit of insurance.
Either Drew's gonna be traded, or Rudy is just taking an added precaution just in case Francis' knee acts up again. Personally, I agree with KAPAYA, but who knows?
It was a game time decision. Had he been unable to play Rudy would have had to of run Drew into the ground again. What does it matter? They had a space and they filled it with a temp player. Now CBA Moochie gets to live it up for 10 days and enjoy chartered flights and first class hotels. Old School ------------------ Just Build It!
Mr. Mcdyess... Bryce Drew is a hot commodity on the NBA market right now. You obviously haven't watched him lately. He has really picked up his game, and tons of teams have flooded the Rockets front office with calls for Drew. In his two games as a starter he got 20 points a game. All of those offers, according to our sources here at Clutchcity.net, have been declined. You seriously underestimate Bryce. You could get a lot for him. A LOT. He has played well in a few games. If that impresses you so greatly then so be it. In terms of the floods of rumors that you are so overwhelmed by; last time I checked this was a Rockets website...do you think it will be posted that nobody wants him? If I'm the Rockets I take one of the numerous offers they have declined. You are dealing with an above average shooter who is a poor defender that does nothing spectacular at the point guard position. If that has become a "hot commodity" in the NBA now then this league is going down the tubes. The NBA is an 82 game season...you dont make your career based solely on several good starting perfomances. The main point to be emphasized here is that if the market is so hot for Drew as youi claim, then you move him immediately while his value is high rather than waiting, and down the road having to give up Mobley, whose potential is much greater.
I'd keep Drew, just for the fact that it's pretty cool to have a player who could start be the backup to an all star. As for Mobley, I never liked him as a point guard.
I'll take the middle ground on this and say that they have Moochie here on the 10 day contract for a look-see. IF, they are satisified with him and a deal for Drew goes down, they already have someone to be the backup pg instead of starting from scratch. If no deal goes down, Moochie leaves and Rogers should be close to coming back off IR. Mango [This message has been edited by Mango (edited February 08, 2000).]
I still think either Drew or Mobley will be traded. There are not enough minutes for 4 quality guards, and Anderson is a little out of his depth at the 3 spot. I would trade Drew, Williams and a pick for McGrady. I personally love Drew's game, but he needs minutes to move forward and he won't get them here. DaDakota PS. Anyone with a name like Moochie must be good.
My estimation is a simple one. Bryce Drew is playing 46-48 minutes a game with Stevie out, they need to rest him a little. If Bryce was going to be traded, I don't think they would have signed Moochie to a 10 day. But then again, Rudy is clever and savvy, you never know.
McD, I pretty much agree with that. Yes his value could go up, but in my view their is a greater chance that he will have a hard time cutting it as a first-rate starting NBA guard and his stock will go down somewhat. Still, for the Clips and others, from their perspective I think he is a reasonable gamble for them as well. I think the timing is right for all parties.
MrMcDyess, if I recall Dallas gave Phoenix a great 1st round pick for Steve Nash. Nash didn't do much more than Drew at this stage of his career, teams desperate for a PG might offer a decent pick or young player for Drew. It could be a win-win for both teams. Drew might continue to develop by being the main man (or he might not be able to handle it, who knows, there is always risk involved??), we might be able to add a good pick or youth to the frontline.
