I bought a cheap($6 10 ft.) HDMI cable to conect my HD dvr (Time warner) to my HDTV. The picture came up very grainy. I switched out my Xbox360 HDMI cable( microsoft/xbox brand, the $50 one) and the picture came up much much better(almost flawless). I have read that hdmi cables are all the same, but apparently not. So I guess my question is, does anybody know of a good hdmi cable for less than $50 that will still give me the picture that the xbox cables give me? or was the $6 just a large pile of crap?
Lies, damn lies, and Monster Cables. All a cable does is carry data from the input device to the output device. A bad cable loses or corrupts data, a good one does not. Therefore, the cheapest cable that you can buy that does not lose data is the best, not the most expensive one.
are there any cables that will give me comparable picture quality to the really expensive ones, for less than $50. Stupid question I know, but had to ask....
I bought my HDMI cable for $6 at directron and it works just fine. It's located in Houston so you can just place an order and go pick it up. www.directron.com
If a hdmi cable is 6' or shorter, most any will do an acceptable job. The longer the run, the better quality the cable needs to be. I bought 2 30' cables from monoprice.com and get an outstanding picture over them. Take the advice of the several people who have mentioned it and buy from monoprice. They are cheap and good.
www.bluejeanscable.com I bought a 20 foot cable and a 10 foot cable...they were both double bonded. I believe that Belden makes their cables.
