    No.

You leave players like Bonzi, Scola and Brooks to be the offensive jolt off the bench, not your All Star and team co-leader.

While I applaud the thread starter for starting a thread that is not of the "Trade T-Mac" or "This is not T-Mac's team" or "T-Mac sucks" category, I must strongly disagree with the rationale of the the thread itself.

Doesn't matter if T-Mac starts or not. If you want him to be the energy guy off the bench and protect his fragile ego, just play him 5 minutes to start the game, then bench him and put in our current crop of starters to play. Let T-Mac come in at the end of the 2nd Qtr and some in the 3rd Qtr and then heavy minutes in the 4th Qtr when we really need him.

Oh and don't think this is having your best player benched. The Nets ran Vince Carter off the bench. Don't know if they are still doing it or not but they ran a string of games where VC came off the bench.

GREAT IDEA! He doesn't start, but who says he doesn't have to finish? This may provide that extra push.

It can be done but the Nets only did it for 4 games. They won all 4 and then put Vince back into the starting rotation. I think it'd be an interesting experiment.

Vince Carter returned to the starting lineup Sunday against Detroit and posted 22 points on 9-for-16 shooting.

Vinsanity came off the bench in four of his previous five contests after returning from a serious ankle sprain. Before that stretch, he had only come off the pine three times over the previous 10 seasons. Make sure he's back in your starting lineups too.

Vince Carter came off the bench to score 24 points with nine rebounds, three assists and two steals on Saturday, as the Nets ended a five-game home losing streak with a 94-92 overtime victory over the Philadelphia 76ers.

Carter probably won't remain a sub for very long, but he has played very well since his move to the bench. He needs to be starting for your squad whether he is benched in games or not, since he's finally showing his usual explosiveness and offensive dominance.

Vince Carter will come off the bench on Saturday, while Malik Allen and Antoine Wright will start for the Nets.

The Nets are 3-0 when Carter comes off the bench and they're trying to snap a five-game losing streak at home. This move is not due to injury or a demotion. They're just trying to find a way to win. We doubt Carter comes off the bench for an extended period of time, but he could be there for the next week or so. The good news is that he should still get close to the same minutes as when he was starting, as he should enter the game in the sixth minute of the first quarter.
    Related: Malik Allen, Antoine Wright

Nets' coach Lawrence Frank is looking to optimize his lineup, and is considering bringing Vince Carter off of the Nets' bench for a while. According to Frank, Carter would enter the game after six minutes, thereby being fresher and ready to play with the second unit.

"It's just the combinations we have, especially in the second quarter," said Frank, stressing he must keep "enough offense and enough defense just to balance and keeping guys fresh where they're not fatigued." Carter is going to see 30+ minutes, and since he would be the number-one option with the second unit, a move to the bench might not hurt his numbers too much. Watch him for a couple games, but it is still safe to start him.

Maybe the Lakers will do the same with Bryant, the Cavs with James, Spurs with Duncan, etc...yeah, I don't see that happening.

I'm down with this idea because it wont reduce his minutes at all, he just plays a different set of minutes. Either that or move tmac to the three and start luther head until he gets cold. There is no point in starting 2 zeros on offense like battier and hayes. You can bring battier off the bench and luther would give more shooting in the starting lineup. Battier could be effective as a backup 4 and scola can play the backup 5 in the second unit. This allows the flexibility to allow aaron brooks to keep a spot in the rotation. And we can chose between james and francis as the backup 2.

Although I don't agree with Tracy as a 6th man, I do however run my NBA 2K team as:

    Rafer
    Head
    McGrady
    Scola/Battier <- depending on opponent
    Yao

Not that it means anything, but just illustrates that I like that lineup idear.

the problem is that battier can't really play against first tier power forwards in the game, scola is better off being yao's backup and you still would be playing battier and hayes together. but im glad someone agrees with me on starting luther and moving tracy to the three.

the LAKERS and CAVS are winning, so they don't need to try new things, the ROX however are not winning or being the team that every is expecting them to be, so we need to try new things, TMAC coming off the bench is good for the ROX because if tmac comes off the bench that will make the ROX 2 team in one -2 "good" team will beat any 1 team any day

    staters: TEAM A
    Yao
    Battier
    Hayes
    Alston
    Head

    SUBS: TEAM B
    TMAC
    bonzi
    scola
    Brooks
    Mutombo

it doesn't matter which team is on the floor, the opponent HAVE TO double team both TEAM A and B, with Yao and TMAC

although this is a good suggestion, but I doubt that coach would ever think about it because that would kill TMAC ego, and TMAC would then be really "unhappy" in houston

I like Bonzi, or maybe even keep Luther. Although Bonzi's poor outside shot maybe a bad fit for the starters. Mac off the bench would be an insane change of pace and huge adjustment for the opponent to make.

Tmake is not even at KB or James' level anymore, and hasn't been for quite a few years (though he is probably the second most talented player in the league behind LJ). Duncan is low block 20/10 guy and a defensive anchor, that has to stay with the starting unit. Tmac is neither of those things.
