This is finally a team. Everyone has a role and I am seeing less and less of one on five. Good job, Coach Adelman.
The system is definitely coming together, but Yao is a big part of that. Yao is the only player other teams have to account for at all. He's the fulcrum offensively. He's really picking up the assists, too. Defensively, he's really improved. He changed so many shots tonight. He's just a load. He also punished a number of Wizards physically and sent them to the bench. I was impressed that Yao kept fighting despite some setbacks early. We're lucky to have him *and* Tracy. I think we're going to roll!
Excuse me? Last I saw... this team wouldn't have gotten anywhere if they didn't get Head All jokes aside... I don't believe in Yao's team or T-Mac's team or whose team whatsoever. Everyone plays in the team.
Yeah. Now it is Yao's team. cause Tmac not play. After Tmac come back , It will be Tmac's team again.
Its true though, but thats more on Adelman's system than Yao. His numbers have actually been in decline since T-Mac left, but others are stepping up. The key part is others are steppign up. 4 straight games the Rockets have had a player with 20 pts not named McGrady or Yao.
I agree. Yao's role on the team reminds me of TD on the Spurs. He does what is needed and lets the rest of the guys a chance to play their game. He's not really an offensive juggernaut anymore, but his all round game has improved. Of course we are not at spurs level yet. We just need a couple more players that can shine as stars IN THIS SYSTEM. Swift ball movement, players that move and cut w/o the ball, and hard running, hustle, and defensive intensity (like the effort tonight) is want wins at the championship-contention level in NBA today.
If Wells, Head or Steve want a salary review, Yao might cut his salary to satisfy them because Victory is more important to him. That is my guess.
We just won 3 games against average teams. We still have to win the next two to prove that we have come back to above average. If we lost any one of the next 2 games, we are still average at best, and if that's the case, I would say a Yao's team was mediocre at best. Now if we could win the other 3 teams next week, NOH, PHI & SAS, we are back to business. Too bad our current record would not allow us to "test drive" how good we could be to play against these 3 teams without TMac. Frankly I see little chance to defeat NOH and SAS if TMac was not playing on the court. I believe Yao himself won't mind if this is his team or not as long as we are winning, neither will TMac.
I love the thread title. "Finally, this is Yao's team" as if these guys have been waiting years and years for this to at long last be the team of Yao. Oh Glory of Yao, this is your team now, we YOF'ers can finally celebrate this team as you, and no longer share glory with that other person.
We also lost some of these crappy teams with TMac, and some even more crappier team such as 76ers, where the SOFT argument started.
He still is an offensive juggernaut. That's why he gets double teamed more than anybody else in the league.
Knicks are contending for worst team in the league. The Wiz's last win over a halfway decent team was against the Nets a whole month ago.
we really don't need t-mac for the rest of the week. New York and Minnesota will be laughers, he shouldn't be rushed back.
I'm talking about our 3 game winning streak against crappy teams. Let me back up since everybody is skewing my post. We have a 3 game winning streak against crappy teams and now everyone is anointing it's Yao's team like we can get very far without TMac. We're definitely either one and done in the playoffs if we make it or miss it altogether without TMac. THese games without Tmac are good that we learn how to play without TMac but let's not kid ourselves like we can get very far without him.
I agree, I should have put a bracket to the letter "s" in the word "teams". Anyway, "average" wasn't any complimentary term at all especially when judging one's performance, am I right?
