My friend and I were debating where Arenas will go after this year. I told him Tmac for Arenas sign and trade straight up would nice.

Arenas is 6'3 but plays much bigger. Hes got a lot of confidence and a killer instinct. Takes the ball to the hole, and can drill three after three.

McGrady is 6'8 but plays very small, never uses his height. Lacking in confidence, shys away from adversity.

The Wizards might do it because Arenas could walk away and they'd be left with nothing. McGrady could be very sucessful in the East with Butler, and Jamison.

    What do you guys think?

Gilbert Arenas doesn't know how to share the ball. He's not very big and the last thing we need is another undersized point guard. If we lose Tmac we lose a lot of size and an unselfish player.

    No thanks.

When does McGrady ever use his size? Tell me. What does being big have anything to do with it. Iverson is 5'11 and you'd take him in a heartbeat.

How is 6'3 being an undersized point guard? Were you looking to trade for Magic Johnson?

I don't think Arenas would be a good fit. I can't see him saying the same thing as McGrady as "willing to throw the ball to Yao everytime if we get the win." Besides I think Arenas has a huge ego "people don't know how much I mean to the team" and "look how Larry Hughes was a 20ppg man in my team but a scrub in LeBron's team."

Gilbert also shoots tons of jumpers, and has a pretty low fg%. Just look at how his team thrived without him this year but struggled with him...

    Uh...

A point guard who jacks up shots is in surplus at Rockets land.

I do not want that attention w**** on the rockets, that dude is a ballhog to the nth.

I seriously can't see the Rockets getting better with Arenas on the team.

He is just another "name" player that isn't truly a franchise player but makes that type of money. I'm sorta surprised myself they have gotten to the playoffs with him, so can't label him a loser. But in order for him to ever sniff a championship, he'd have to be the 2nd or 3rd option on a team with better franchise players and seriously curtail his I can chuck a shot anytime I want to cause I'm the #1 guy.

If he takes a serious paycut and becomes the 3rd guy behind Yao and Tracy AND clearly knows he is the 3rd guy, then I'll take him on.

otherwise he can continue his playoff fodder career (and only reason he makes the playoffs is because he is in the east).

He's a ballhog but had two other guys on his team average about 20 points a game last year?
    Caron Butler 19.1 PPG
    Antawn Jamison 19.8 PPG
    Gilbert Arenas 28.4 PPG

I think labeling his career as playoff fodder is a bit unfair. He's a 2nd round pick who's become a hell of a player. Arenas has led his team for years in the East including the 2nd round, which is something McGrady cant even say when he was there.

The Wizards weer absolute **** before he got there, he promised them he'd take them to the playoffs and he's done so. It's a bit unfair to label him a so so player because his team is mediocre. Garnett, Allen and Pierce were all in the same situation before their current situation.

I think having an ego is a plus in this league. I often wish Yao and Mcgrady had ego's. Mike James is the same way. Say all you want about his ego but he went from undrafted being a pretty good player.

You watch Baron David and Stephen Jackson will their teams to victories with their cockiness. It's infectous. Kobe has an ego. It's what makes them compete.
Arenas's ego is whats gotten him this far. He was never supposed to be a star in this league.

Mcgrady currently says "it's better when the ball doesnt have to go through me" I dont want my star thats making 19mil/yr saying that. I want him to want the ****ing ball.

but the crux of the argument is

    TMac > Arenas (both healthy)

I actually like Arenas' passion and wearing his emotion on his sleeve, but at the end of the day we are not a better team with trading TMac for Arenas.

I'm not that desparate yet to make that trade where we get less in return.

arenas isn't anywhere near t-mac's level. not even close.

i have no idea what you mean about him not using his height as he's built a career off being able to pull up and shoot over people at will. that's because he's 6'8" with handles like a pg.

This is what happens when people look at stats only.

Arenas is the antithesis of winner. You think Tmac is bad? Trying watching Agent Zero regularly (when he returns) and then come back and say Houston wins in this trade.

Thats because the Wizards' offense is set up so that each one of these guys takes their turn running an isolation play against their defender.
