McGrady could be back with Rockets Friday

    Associated Press

WASHINGTON -- Tracy McGrady will be checked out by the Houston Rockets' medical staff Thursday to determine when he'll be able to return from his left knee injury.

``We certainly are missing him,'' Rockets coach Rick Adelman said before Tuesday night's game at the Washington Wizards. ``But it's important that he's healthy when he does start playing.''

McGrady, sidelined by strained tendons, tendinitis and a bone bruise in his left knee, last played Dec. 23. He's the Rockets' leading scorer at 22.8 points per game.

``I'd love to see him come back on Friday, but it's really going to be up to the medical people and Tracy as far as how he works out, how he feels before we get him back on the floor,'' Adelman said.

Once McGrady does return, his time on the court will have to be monitored. ``He's not going to be able to play a full quarter in a row or anything like that,'' Adelman said. ``We'll have to get him in and out and see how this thing responds.''

Can't understate how important this is. The Rockets are looking at a very good time to get Mac back...soft schedule. If the Rockets make a run, now would be the best time.

For sure looking forward to Mac coming back.

He is so talented, but lacks some huevos!

I am going to give Mac the benefit of the doubt and believe that he is truly injured and hasn't quit on the team. But if he doesn't come out and play like he wants to be out there, then I say we boot his ass out of here.

Come on Mac! Prove us wrong!

I just hope he doesn't "rush" to come back. I hope he'll have a great game and take less then 15 shot.

Fridays game is like a freebie (1-16 on the road for the wolf?).

wow everyone needs to stfu..... im going to find it hilarious when Mcgrady comes back and the rockets win 1 game......and everyone will be writting posts saying how great he is.....this forum kind of sucks because we have idiots in here who just write stuff on the moment and dont think it out

We should all be happy that we have an unselfish superstar like tracy mcgrady on the team.....any kind of criticism is just plain stupid

I prefer him to take his time, especially since we are beginning to gain some momentum. Probably take the weekend off if all is good on Thursday and be back for the Tuesday game.

Tmac is famous for his numerous return-date selection. He wouldn't miss this perfect opportunity when we face a scrub team like this one...

honestly, i don't want him back by friday. i want him to get as much rest as possible. we won't need him against the timberwolves. i say give him a few extra days of rest before bringing him back.

Yes, let T-Mac rest as long as he feels he need to get back to 100%. I don't want to see the T-Mac that will get in gingerly mode right away when things are not going his way.

T-Mac can turn this team into a title contender... but he has to find his place in the system. The system is working pretty good right now, and it is not designed around players like T-Mac. He needs to accept not touching the ball on every posession and doing a lot of cuts without the ball.

His absence isn`t that severe right now, because other guys get the chance to get some playing time and learn the system. With the upcoming schedule it would be nice to bring T-Mac back very slowly (15 mins the first game would be perfectly fine...).

The more important question should be: Is Tmac planning to play any defense when he does come back?

If he's going to come back early, which I don't agree with, let him come off the bench. Rather than relying him to generate all our scoring, coming off the bench should ease him into the system. Treat him like we treat Bonzi and he'll fit into the system. A more effective Bonzi would make our bench killer.

Then again, I don't think he should be rushing things. Wait 'til you're 100%, Tmac. We all want you back at full strength!

Mac has earned some criticism for himself. Maybe not to the extent that this board shows, but he has earned it throughout his career nonetheless.
BTW, Could you take some time in editing your posts? Thanks

for once i am not looking forward for him to come back, i don't think he should rush back and risk of injured again, as long as our team keeps winning i'll say give rest him, i'm pretty sure he would like that, anyways what the point of rushing back when the team is winning and then what if you get injured and we make the playoffs >? oh wait what if just WHAT IF the ROX get past the first round without him playing.... :D then he will also be credited with "passed the first round test" so he will never have that on his back every again ?

i don't care if he comes back and burst for 50 points, i still say trade him, he is not a player that can get the ROCKETS to the next level.....he tried to for 11 years with 3 different teams...he needs to move on with his baseball and we need to move on

Yeah i agree everyone is always so hard on tmac give him the bloody break, he is an unselfish all star and he might be injured a fair bit, but so are the other 50% of nba plyers so cut tmac some slack
